JOE H. ARTHUR

SNOW HILL -- Joe Harper Arthur, 87, died Friday at his home after an extended period of declining health.
A native of Greene County, he was born to Joseph and Lydia Turnage Arthur.
Following graduation from Snow Hill High School, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II on tours of duty in the European Theatre. Following the war, he returned to Greene County, where he was a tobacco farmer until his retirement.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Snow Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Al Sullivan of Jerusalem United Methodist, where Mr. Arthur was a member, will officiate the service.
Survivors include a son, Joey Arthur, and his wife, Donna, of Snow Hill; a brother, Albert Lee Arthur of Snow Hill; a sister, Ann A. Harris of Roanoke Rapids; grandchildren, Jeremy Lane and wife, Jennifer, of Hampton, Va., Christopher Lane of Snow Hill and Lisa Exum and husband, Johnny, of LaGrange; and great-grandchildren, Alex Lane, Maggie Exum and Joshua Exum.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service and other times at the home, 2892 Warren Town Road, Snow Hill.
