GAYLE NEWCOMB

Gayle Newcomb, 71, of 532 Sanderson Road, died Saturday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Maurice "Mott" and Frances Smith Sanderson. She was a member of Indian Springs Free Will Baptist Church and attended Seven Springs Baptist Church. Employed in food service for over 45 years, she was formerly employed with Woolworth's, Winn-Dixie and the Wayne County Public Schools.
Funeral services will be held Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Garrett officiating. Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. Newcomb is survived by her husband Pete Newcomb; two brothers, W.C. Sanderson of Greenville, Gary Sanderson of Seven Springs; and a sister, Emma Ward, Seven Springs.
Family members will greet friends Sunday night immediately following the service at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her sister, Emma Ward, 112 E. Spring St., Seven Springs.
