MAXTON, N.C. -- Rebecca "Becky" Calhoun Pate Morris, 75, of Old Maxton Road, died Friday at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Services to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Robert Dendy. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Born in Robeson County, she was a daughter of the late George F. and Lelia Bullard Pate. She graduated from High Point College in 1952 with a degree in Bible, which she taught at Fairmont High School. She later taught elementary school in Maxton and Laurinburg. Becky was active in the Maxton High School Booster Club, the First Presbyterian Church, and was a board member of the Gilbert Patterson Memorial Library.

Most recently she assisted in operations of the E. Morris and Son Plant Farm. She was always an upbeat personality and easily remembered people's names.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Lawrence P. Morris; three sons, Pete Morris and wife, Mary Neil, of Laurinburg; Al Morris and wife, Mendy, of Fairmont; and Eric Morris and wife, Kim, of Maxton; a brother, Gilbert Pate of Goldsboro; a sister-in-law, Edna Pate of Rowland; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Frank Pate of Rowland and sister-in-law Mary Sherard Barton Pate of Goldsboro.

Memorials are requested for the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 5, Maxton, N.C. 28364 or for the Gilbert Patterson Memorial Library, Maxton, N.C. 28364.

Visitation was Saturday at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.
