DAISY M. MELE

MOUNT OLIVE -- Daisy Vertle Maness Mele, 86, of 215 N. Johnson St., died Friday night at SunBridge Care Center.
Born in Moore County, she was one of 11 children born to Thomas Franklin and Emma Katherine Kidd Maness. She was the widow of Frank Mele to whom she had been married for 57 years.
She is survived by four children, Frances Sewell of Siler City, Wayne Mele and wife, Judy, of Bear Creek, Nancy Sullivan and husband, Steve, of Bear Creek, and Bill Mele and wife, Carol, of Mount Olive; a sister, Lillie Jaeger of Suffolk, Va.; two brothers, Colon Maness and Floyd Maness, both of Bear Creek; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will gather at Tyndall Funeral Home on Monday from 5 until 7 p.m. to receive friends.
A graveside service will be held in Norfolk, Va., on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
