Bonnie Bell Yelverton, 89, died Monday at the Brian Center of Goldsboro.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory, Goldsboro, with pastor Doug Natalie officiating. Graveside service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Stantonsburg Cemetery.
Ms. Yelverton was born in Greene County to the late Sam Robert and Mary Shirley Shingleton. She was a member of Davis Grove Baptist Church in the Lindell Community. She was very active in the church while her health permitted, where she sang in the choir, played the piano, was a Sunday School Teacher and Bible School Teacher.
She is survived by one son, Marvin "Jerry" Yelverton and his wife, Connie, of the Saulston Community; one daughter, Faye Head and husband, Mercel, of Goldsboro; one brother, Carson Lee Shingleton of Stantonsburg; one sister, Mary Lou Vick of Wilson; five grandchildren, Mercel "Keith" Head and his wife, Terry, Pamela Stafford and her husband, Wade, Gary Head, and Bradley and Derrick Yelverton; and three great-grandchildren, Blaine Stafford, Heather and Austin Head.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Yelverton was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Franklin Yelverton.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening following the funeral service at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her daughter, Faye Head, 409 Quail Drive, Goldsboro.
