HUBERT THROWER JR.

Hubert Fairley Thrower Jr., 65, 132 Fairmax Road, went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, Thursday at the Veterans Hospital in Durham.
Mr. Thrower was born in Wagram, the only child of the late Hubert Fairley Thrower Sr., and Mamie Elizabeth Gaddy Thrower. After graduating from high school in 1959, Hubert attended Garner Webb College, where he played varsity basketball, and Belmont Abbey College. He then served his country in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966, stationed in the Azores Islands and received an honorable discharge in 1966. Hubert made his career in the furniture industry as a factory sales representative for 30 years. He loved sharing good meals with his family, Carolina basketball, bowling and playing golf.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. tonight at Pink Hill funeral home, with the Rev. Chris Edwards officiating. Burial will be held in Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
Mr. Thrower is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce Martin Thrower; three sons, Hugh Scott Thrower, of Goldsboro, Jeffrey Neil Thrower and wife, Aleatha, of Richlands, Gregory Shawn Thrower and wife, Raina, of Kinston; two precious granddaughters, Hannah Love Thrower and Audrey Paige Thrower; an uncle, Harold Thrower Sr. and wife, Jane, of Red Springs; and an aunt, Flora Gibson and husband, Dave, of Holden Beach.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., Sunday at Pink Hill Funeral Home.
