Azell "Bud" Whitley, 75, 104 S. Center St., died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was born to the late Claude and Diasy D. Suggs Whitley and was also preceded in death by his wife, Bessie M. Phillip Whitley.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 4460 N. US 13 with the Rev. Chester McClarin officiating. Burial will follow in Old Mill Cemetery.
He is survived by one daughter, Betty C. Hargrove; one son, Johnny L. Whitley of Bronx, N.Y.; four sisters, Effie Lewis of Snow Hill, Bessie Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y., Esther Williams of Pikeville and Melva Lewis of Goldsboro.
Wake will be Friday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, Goldsboro, with the family present to receive friends and family.
