MOUNT OLIVE -- William Edgar Best, 95, 691 Britt Road., died Saturday at his home. A lifetime resident of Wayne County, he was the husband of the late Doris Ginn Best, son of the late William Theophilus and Florence Underwood Best and was a self-employed farmer.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Frank Purvis officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Sallie B. and Adrian Rascoe of Raleigh, Carol B. and Bobby Joyner of Smithfield, and Wilma B. and Eddis Earl Britt of Mount Olive; a sister, Flonnie B. Hood of Burgaw; 3 granddaughters, Debbie Isom, Teresa Clark, and Beth Waldron; and 4 great- grandsons, Zachary & Timothy Clark, Joshua Isom, and Evan Waldron.
The family will greet friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
