Laptops were stolen from Spring Creek Elementary over spring break, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.
The school's art teacher discovered modular classrooms behind the school, located at 1050 St. John Church Road, had been broken into when she arrived Monday after spring break.
She then found three Dell Latitude laptops, an InFocus projector, a NeatReceipts scanner and assorted candy missing, according to the report.
Two of the laptops are worth $675.45 each, and the third one is worth $937.06. The scanner was estimated at $537.67, and damages to the classrooms' windows and doors totaled to $550.
According to the report, a custodian was the last person to leave the school before spring break began. The custodian reported the classrooms were left secured.
An officer viewed a security video and saw a person in a classroom on April 21, just before 4 a.m. The officer contacted security personnel for more footage, according to the report.
The report said a person also stole assorted candy from a concession stand.
Ken Derksen, communications director for Wayne County Public Schools, could not confirm if a student was involved with the break-in and theft.
"We don't know who broke into our school," he said. "We're letting law enforcement investigate it."
He could not confirm how many rooms had been broken into, but Derksen said he believes the break-in happened last weekend.
"It's not our first time schools have been broken into," he said.
The sheriff's office was unable to comment.
