A man was arrested Sept. 9 on charges stemming from a shooting on Jan. 1, according to a press release from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
According to the press release, sheriff's deputies responded to a shooting call at 118 Mansion Lane on Jan. 1, and found that the victim had already been taken to the hospital by a friend who lived at the residence.
The sheriff's office later secured warrants for Nathan McDuffie, who is also a registered sex offender in relation to the shooting, according to the press release.
During the investigation, McDuffie did not verify or update his address as is required by NC law, and warrants were also issued for that offense, according to the release. On Sept. 9, McDuffie came to the Sheriff's annex and was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or seriously injure, failure to verify address as a sex offender and driving with license revoked. He was held under a $111,000 secured bond.
