Goldsboro police have arrested and charged one of two suspects in connection with the Jan.16 armed robbery of the Dollar General at 2107 N. William St.
The second suspect, who has not yet been identified, remains at large.
Police said in a press release Thursday that Nicholas Harry Shields, 18, of Goldsboro was arrested at 933 Fairview Circle at about 9:45 p.m. He was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of second-degree kidnapping.
Shields and another suspect allegedly forced their way into the Dollar General and, at gunpoint, forced one employee to the ground and the other to another part of the store. The armed men took money and then fled the scene.
Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Shields just two days later, but did not locate him until Wednesday. Goldsboro Housing Unit officers arrested him and turned him over to Wayne County Jail to await a court appearance. Shields' bail was set at $500,000.
