Walston-Smith
Maggie Nicole Walston and Jonathan Michael Smith exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Dec. 10, 2016, at 4 o’clock in the afternoon at Snow Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Wesley Newcomb officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Charles and Peggy Walston of Snow Hill and the granddaughter of the late Samuel and Eva Walston of Snow Hill and the late Eugene and Dollie Ham of Pikeville.
She graduated from Greene Central High School in 2008. She received a bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders and a master’s degree in speech-language pathology from East Carolina University. She is employed as a speech-language pathologist at Venture Rehabilitation Group.
The groom is the son of Michael Smith and Wesley and Nannette Newcomb of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of Elton and Ann Smith and Lenwood and Brenda Sauls of Goldsboro.
He graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 2010. He attended Wayne Community College, and is employed as a sales professional at Pinnacle Promotions Inc.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory Allure ballgown of delicate lace and English net. The gown featured a high-scoop neckline and cap-sleeves embellished with illusion accents, and revealed a solid strapless bodice. A band of Swarovski crystals accented the waistline and led into a full skirt with a court-length train.
Her headpiece was a fingertip veil of ivory tulle adorned with Swarovski crystals and delicate beadwork.
The bride carried a Aclutch bouquet of Sola wood flowers and pinecones with winter accents.
Hayley Goff, friend of the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Tracy Perry, Amanda Grady and Carrie Adams, friends of the bride, and Hannah Smith, sister of the groom.
Michael Smith served as his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Maxwell Smith, William Kastner and Scott Mason, friends of the groom.
Allie Creech, cousin of the groom, and Melanie Brown, cousin of the bride, were junior bridesmaids.
Dustin Brown, cousin of the bride, and Jacob Perry, friend of the bride, were junior groomsmen.
Ryan Goff, friend of the bride, was flower girl.
Mason Brown, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer.
Ushers were Cullen Tyndall and Zachary Smith, cousins of the groom, and Landon Goff, friend of the bride.
Gayle Brock, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Morgan Smith and Stephanie Smith, cousins of the groom. Alston Tyndall, cousin of the groom, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Rich Holder, pianist. Blake Holder and Hayley Goff were vocalists.
The bride’s parents hosted a dinner reception following the ceremony at Elaney Wood Heritage Farmer's Market.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Dec. 9 at Snow Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Events held before the wedding included an engagement party Jan. 1 hosted by Wesley and Nannette Newcomb at their home; a honey-do barbecue June 18 hosted by the Goff family at its home; a miscellaneous shower Sept. 24 at Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church hosted by the mothers of the bride and groom; a dinner Oct. 22 at Hood Swamp Friends Church hosted by the Smith family; a bridal shower Nov. 6 at Walnut Creek Country Club hosted by Joann Tillman, Deb Tillman and Frankie Tillman Franks; a bachelorette weekend Nov. 10 through 13 in Savannah, Ga., hosted by Hayley Goff; a Christmas shower Nov. 27 given by Linda Newcomb, Allie Creech and Diane Edwards; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon Dec. 3 hosted by Debra Dail at the Strickland family pool house.
After a wedding trip to New Orleans, La., the couple resides in Goldsboro, N.C.
