Laura Rose Smith of Goldsboro and William Hardy Bryan Jr. of Mount Olive exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 17, 2014, at 4 p.m. at the Bryan Family Farmhouse in Newton Grove, with Dr. Dennis Draper officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Jimmy Allen Smith of Dudley and the late Amy Daly Smith of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of John Preston and Mary Rose Grant Daly of Seven Springs and Donald Allen and Justeen Kilpatrick Smith of Mount Olive.

The bride is a 2004 graduate of Spring Creek High School in Seven Springs, N.C. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in middle grades education and a Master’s of Library Science from East Carolina University. She is employed as the media coordinator at North Duplin Elementary School.

The groom is the son of William Hardy and Ann Tolar Bryan of Mount Olive. He is the grandson of Ann Scott Tolar and the late Harry Russell Tolar of Goldsboro and the late Byron Eugene and Doris Hughes Bryan of Mount Olive.

The groom is a 2003 graduate of Spring Creek High School in Seven Springs. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural and environmental technology from North Carolina State University, and is employed as an engineer at Hog Slat Inc. in Newton Grove, N.C.

The bride was escorted by Mr. John Preston Daly, grandfather of the bride, and given in marriage by her family.

Her bridal gown was a sheath of silk charmeuse overlaid with re-embroidered lace. It featured a V-neckline, back button detail and a sweep train. She wore a white satin bow adorned with rhinestones in her hair, and carried a bouquet of white roses, peonies and hydrangeas.

Miss Elizabeth Daly Smith, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Ms. Laura Rachel Barwick and Mrs. Sarah Barwick Wiggins, friends of the bride.

Mr. William Hardy Bryan, father of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Mr. Byron Russell Bryan, brother of the groom, and Mr. Benjamin Preston Smith, friend of the couple.

Master Wilson Dexter Rouse was ringbearer.

Mrs. Margaret Ann Parvin directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Miss Hannah Lottie Guilliams and Miss Maygan Caroline Jackson. Miss Sydney Lauren Smith distributed programs.

Mrs. Paige Vickory Barwick, violinist, and harpist, Ms. Caroline Marion Violante, provided music for the wedding ceremony.

A reception at Goldsboro Country Club followed the wedding ceremony. Greeters at the reception were Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Alan Daly of Seven Springs, uncle and aunt of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Alan Bryan of Baltimore, Md., uncle and aunt of the groom. Mrs. Esther Jo Davis and Mrs. Mary Wilson Guilliams cut the wedding cake at the reception.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Goldsboro Country Club.

Other events held before the wedding included a Christmas bridal shower hosted by co-workers of the bride at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson; a dinner party hosted by friends of the groom at The Country Squire Restaurant in Warsaw, N.C.; a bridal shower hosted by the bride’s family and church members at Walker Memorial United Methodist Church in Seven Springs; a seafood fest and celebration hosted by the groom’s family and friends at Sleepy Creek Clubhouse in Dudley, N.C.; a garden and grill shower hosted by bridesmaids and their families at Wayne County Shrine Club in Dudley, N.C.; a bachelorette weekend hosted by the bridesmaids and their families at Topsail Island, N.C.; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon hosted by the bride’s family and friends at The Baron and the Beef in Kinston, N.C.

After a wedding trip to Costa Rica, the couple reside in Mount Olive.
