Sandra Renee Thompson of Pikeville and John Wiley “J.W.” Pender of Pikeville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 5, 2014, at 5 p.m. at The Boathouse in Beaufort, N.C., with Brad Williams officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Ray Thompson of Pikeville, Tenn., and Lisa Cullipher of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Willie and Mildred Thompson of Goldsboro, Beulah Blankenship of Goldsboro and the late Harold Blankenship of Goldsboro.

She attended Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, and received an Associate Science degree in dental assisting.

She is employed as a dental assistant with Drs. Smith and Adams Family Dentistry in Goldsboro.

The groom is the son of Wiley Lee and Debra Jones Pender and the grandson of the late Benton Pender and Mary Powell Pender of Pikeville, N.C., John Cleat Jones of Burlington, N.C., and Josephine Rich Humphries of Bailey, N.C.

He is also the stepgrandson of the late Joseph F. Rich of Garner, N.C.

He is a Campbell University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a PGA certification and a business minor in marketing.

He is employed as manager of Almost Alive Lures @ Basic Power Inc. in Harker’s Island, and is owner of J&J Sign Design.

The bride was escorted by her father, Ray Thompson, and given in marriage by her father and mother, Lisa Cullipher.

She wore a satin A-line gown with a side-draped bodice and and asymmetric skirt and a satin sash adorned with rhinestones.

Her headpiece was a tiara adorned with rhinestones and pearls.

The bride’s bouquet was made of roses, starfish and also seashells.

Bridesmaids were her sisters, Julia Cullipher and Diana Cullipher; sister-in-law, Ashley Thompson; and friend, Keri Scott.

Wiley Pender, groom’s father, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Rob Quattrone, friend of the groom; co-worker, Jamie Wingfield; and friend of the groom, Jason Scott.

Cole Mills directed the wedding.

Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Jordyn Howell of Pikeville, N.C. Judy Howell of Pikeville, N.C., acted as assistant director.

Frankie Hill with BTA Entertainment of Morehead City provided the music.

Following the wedding, a reception was held at The Boathouse.

After a wedding trip to Ocracoke, the couple resides in Harkers Island, N.C.

A rehearsal dinner was held at Captain’s Choice Restaurant in Harkers Island, N.C.

Events held before the wedding included a shower held by co-workers of the bride at The Village Steakhouse in Goldsboro Feb. 27 and a bridal shower held by family and friends at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Pikeville, N.C., March 2, 2014.
