Hollowell-Bero
Mary Catherine Hollowell and Michael Matthew Bero of Winston-Salem, N.C., exchanged vows in a double ring ceremony April 12 at 5:30 p.m. at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James H .Harry officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Gilbert Hollowell of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Mrs. Catherine Hill Tyndall, the late Dr. Hubert Durwood Tyndall, the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Tyson Butler (Louise Hollowell) and the late Adron Gilbert Hollowell.
She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in exercise and sports science. She was presented by the Terpsichorean Club in Raleigh at the 2009 North Carolina Debutante Ball. She is the associate wellness director at Jerry Long Family YMCA in Clemmons, N.C.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Michael Bero of Goldsboro and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph John Carnovale of Geneva, N.Y., and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gabriel Bero of Cape Coral, Fla.
He graduated with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and minors in chemistry and Spanish. He attends Wake Forest School of Medicine.
The bride was escorted by her father, and was given in marriage by her parents. She wore a gown of candlelight corded lace with a chapel-length train of English net adorned with lace motifs. She wore her mother’s single-tiered veil of silk illusion edged with scalloped lace, and carried a bouquet of coral calla lilies and white roses wrapped with her Grandfather Tyndall’s handkerchief.
Elizabeth Murray Borden of Goldsboro was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Rita Elaine Beard of Raleigh; Amie Lynn Bero of Raleigh, sister of the groom; Sarah Murphy Compton of Greenville; Lindsey Elizabeth Doty of Charlotte; Julia Parker Fuller of Charlottesville, Va.; Catherine Newell Leach of Charlottesville, Va., cousin of the bride; and Hope Crenshaw Newell of Raleigh, cousin of the bride.
Mitchell Griffin Fornecker of Holly Springs was best man. Groomsmen were Joseph Donald Bero of Charlotte, brother of the groom; Robert Michael Bero II of Sanford, brother of the groom; John In Heon Choi, of Honolulu, Hawaii; Christopher Michael Gentile of Winston-Salem; Adron Gilbert Hollowell II of Boone, brother of the bride; William Andrew Jackson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Sang Woo Kim of Raleigh.
Tyndall Hope Leach of Charlottesville, Va , cousin of the bride, was flower girl. John Mason Gregory IV and Nathanial Wilkins Gregory of Birmingham, Ala., cousins of the bride. were ring bearers.
A program of wedding music was provided by J. Alice Campbell of Goldsboro, organist; Joseph Lawrence Brinson of Greenville, trumpeter; and Katherine Randolph McMillan of New York, N.Y., vocalist.
Shelia Sisk Warrick of Goldsboro directed the wedding.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Walnut Creek Country Club. Mr. and Mrs. William Lee Borden, Mr. and Mrs. Randall Kent Jernigan, Mrs. George Edward Mayo III and Ms. Terry Carter Ray all of Goldsboro greeted guests.
After a wedding trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple will reside in Winston-Salem, N.C.
A bridesmaids’ luncheon was held in Nashville, N.C., at the home of the bride’s great-aunt hosted by the bride’s aunts and grandmother.
Goldsboro events included a cocktail party and dance at Goldsboro Country Club hosted by family and friends, a Christmas bridal shower hosted by friends at the home of Adrienne Northington, a bridal shower at the home of Diane Bero hosted by Diane and Amy Bero and a backyard picnic announcing the couple’s engagement to their families and the wedding party held at the home of the brides’ parents hosted by the parents of the bride and groom. Events held in Winston-Salem included a bridal shower hosted by friends at the home of Chelsea Cannon and a dinner party hosted by the bride’s co- workers. A bachelorette weekend was held in Morehead City hosted by Elizabeth Borden and the bridesmaids.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner April 11 at Walnut Creek Country Club.
