Stephanie Caitlin Rains and Bobby Lee Carter exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 20, 2012, at 5 o’clock in the afternoon at Saint Luke United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Adam Seate officiating.

The bride is the daughter of William Stephen and Lois Charbonneau Rains. She is the granddaughter of William Rowe and Ruby Pittman Rains, Frances Kulpa Charbonneau and the late Alfred George Charbonneau.

She graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 2008 and North Carolina State University in 2012 with a degree in applied psychology. She is employed as a human resources coordinator at PBM Graphics in Research Triangle Park.

The groom is the son of Bobby Dale and Kelly Carter and Timothy and Donna Grove Malloy. He is the grandson of Lula Spivey Carter, the late Bobby Lee Carter, Robert Benjamin Grove and the late Georgia Ellen Sheridan.

He graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 2007 and the Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy in 2009. He is employed as a police officer for the town of Cary.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a silk white organza sweetheart gown with an asymmetrical and draped elongated waist and a textured circle skirt.

Her cathedral-length veil, adorned with Swarovski crystals and handmade by her mother, was attached to the comb from her mother’s bridal veil.

She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white Gerber daisies, white hydrangeas, Queen Anne’s Lace, curly willow and a seeded eucalyptus collar wrapped with white satin.

Amanda Rains MacDowell and Jessica Rains Farnell, sisters of the bride, served as matrons of honor, while Laura Elizabeth Kastner and Lindsey Paige Suggs, friends of the bride, were maids of honor.

Bridesmaids were Kristen Nicole Bennett, Abbi Leigh Davis, Emilee Quinn Pilkington, friends of the bride, and Elizabeth Ellen Carter, sister of the groom.

Bobby Dale Carter served as his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Kelly William MacDowell, brother-in-law of the groom, and Joshua Adam Marks, Derek Glenn Lancaster, Patrick Raymond Sands, William James Vinson and Jared Jacob Cohn, friends of the groom.

Adelyn Grace MacDowell, niece of the bride, was flower girl.

Mary Ann Dudley, friend of the couple, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Janet Charbonneau, aunt of the bride. Katie Henson and Alexandra Clontz, friends of the bride, distributed programs.

Madison Newby, Miller Coakley and Rainee Coakley were acolytes.

A program of wedding music was provided by Bess Edwards-Sawyer, organist; Kristen Prosser, vocalist; and Doug Tart, trumpeter.

The bride’s parents hosted a dinner reception following the ceremony at Walnut Creek Country Club. Mr. and Mrs. Will Davis, uncle and aunt of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. Al Whitfield, family friends of the bride, greeted guests.

Debbie Charbonneau and Susan Charbonneau, aunts of the bride, served the wedding cake.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Oct. 19 at Walnut Creek Country Club. The groom chose this time to present gifts to his attendants.

Events held before the wedding included a monograms and mimosas shower April 29 hosted by Amanda MacDowell, sister of the bride, at her home; a bachelorette party May 10 in Raleigh hosted by Laura Kastner, friend of the bride; a bachelor weekend Aug. 10 through 12 at the Outer Banks; a miscellaneous shower Aug. 26 at St. Luke United Methodist Church hosted by Jessica Farnell, sister of the bride; a pearls and pastries shower Sept. 9 hosted by Abbi and Freda Davis, friends of the bride, at their home; a dinner Sept. 28 at the Village Steakhouse hosted by Joy-Beth Whitfield and Mary-Ann Dudley, family friends of the bride; a bridesmaids’ weekend Oct. 5 through 8 in Surf City; a lingerie shower Oct. 6 in Surf City hosted by Kristen Bennett and Laura Kastner, friends of the bride; a bridesmaids’ luncheon Oct. 19 at the Wagner House in Clayton hosted by Debbie Davis, aunt of the bride, and Ruby Rains, grandmother of the bride, during which time the bride chose to present gifts to her attendants; and a wedding brunch Oct. 20 hosted by Frances Charbonneau, grandmother of the bride, at her home.

After a wedding trip to Isla Mujeres, the couple will reside in Cary.
