Mrs. Hodges

Anna Frances Compton and Steven Keith Hodges exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 30, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Madison Avenue Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bob Fulkerson officiating.

The bride is the daughter of John Wallace and Marsha Smith Compton of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Carolyn LaPrade Compton and the late Dr. John Wallace Compton Jr. of Goldsboro and the late Dr. and Mrs. John Thel Smith of Wallace.

She graduated from Wayne Country Day School in 2004 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in middle grades math education at North Carolina State University in 2008. She was previously employed as a teacher with Wayne County schools.

The groom is the son of Tammy H. Hodges and the late Harold Keith Hodges of Washington and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Henry Hodges Jr. of Washington and Howard “Tom” and Janice H. Hodges of Washington.

He graduated from Washington High School in 2002 and recently completed a degree in fire protection technologies from Wilson Technical Community College. He is employed as a firefighter engineer with the city of Washington.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her family.

She wore a fitted ivory lace gown with scalloped v-shaped neckline and back. It was accented with a taffeta sash and had a semi-cathedral train

Mrs. Brittany Deans of Winston-Salem served as matron of honor, while Miss Hannah Jernigan of Goldsboro and Miss Kathleen Rouse of Atlanta, Ga., were maids of honor.

Bridesmaids were Miss Sarah Compton, Miss Lauren Patrick and Mrs. Heather Scott and Miss Jenny Westbrook of Knoxville, Tenn.

Mr. Brian Hodges of Washington, brother of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Mr. John Compton of Raleigh, Mr. Steven Cox and Brad Johnston of Greenville, Mr. Chris Deans of Winston-Salem, Mr. Alan O’Kane and Mr. Kyle O’Kane of Washington and Mr. Brian O’Kane of Wake Forest.

Miss Rebecca Hodges, sister of the groom, was the junior bridesmaid.

Miss Bailey Bell, Miss Lilah Bell, Miss Mallory Claire Wiggs, cousins of the bride, were the flower girls.

Mrs. Scottie Bryan directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Mrs. Chelsea Duffy.

A program of wedding music was provided by Miss Alden Prigden, vocalist; Mr. Dave Periconi, organist; and Mr. Ryan Spell, trumpeter.

The bride’s family hosted the reception in the fellowship hall of Madison Avenue Baptist Church. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Compton. Reception music was provided by Susan Edwards.

The couple resides in Washington.

The family of the groom hosted a pig picking at the home of the bride’s grandmother.

Events held before the wedding included numerous showers and parties held by friends and family in honor of the bride and groom.
