Render-Smith
Kristin Nicole Smith of Pikeville and Walter Martin Render II exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. at United in Christ Church, with Ira Williford officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mike and Karen Smith of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Durwood and Faye Smith and Dorothy Keel of Goldsboro.
She graduated from Eastern Wayne in 2007 and Wayne Community College in 2009 with an associate degree in dental hygiene. She is employed as a dental hygienist at Hinnant Family Dentistry.
The groom is the son of Walter and Valerie Render of Goldsboro and the grandson of Rhea Wrigglesworth of Lakeland, Fla., Jacqueline Cassidy of Goldsboro and the late Lyle Foster of Avenal, Calif.
He graduated from Rosewood in 2002, Mount Olive College in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in history and East Carolina in 2008 with a master’s degree in middle school social studies. He is employed as an 8th-grade teacher and coach at Eastern Wayne Middle School.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white satin dress with a strapless neckline. It had a beaded bodice with a dropped waistline. Pick-ups cascaded the length of the skirt to the train.
Amanda Smith was her sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Kelli Chandler, Kim Jones, Elizabeth Riem, Holly Hughes, Brittney Small and Ashley Joyner.
Micheal Render was his brother’s best man.
Groomsmen were Brent Gaither, Reding Pittman, Anthony Allen, Daniel Barrow, Jeremy Joyner and Michael Gurganus.
Mackenzie Jones was the junior bridesmaid.
Miley Jones was flower girl. Kaiden Robinson was ringbearer.
Shelly Anderson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs were Mallory Williford and Katelyn Crunkleton.
A program of wedding music was provided by Brittanie Taylor, friend of the bride, pianist and vocalist, and Mike Smith, co-worker of the groom, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in Paul A. Johnston Auditorium.
After their wedding trip to the Florida Keys, the couple will reside in Saulston.
Events held before the wedding included a lingerie shower July 23 hosted by Amanda Smith; a shower July 24 at United in Christ Church hosted by Karen, Amanda and Faye Smith; and a shower Aug. 13 at United in Christ Church hosted by Valerie and Marty Render.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Sept. 16 at United in Christ.
