Elizabeth Gray Pelt of Pikeville and Travis Lane Thigpen of Pikeville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. at Eureka United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michele Clark officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Jerry Lynn and Judy Jarvis Pelt of Fremont and the granddaughter of Beverly Bogue Pelt of Fremont, the late Welford Freeman Pelt, Mary Hill Jarvis of New Bern and the late George Roland Jarvis.

She is a 2002 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2005 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degree in office systems technology. She is employed as the program director at Skill Creations of Wilson.

The groom is the son of Walter Talmage Thigpen Jr. of Pikeville and the late Anne Margaret Lane Thigpen and the grandson of the late Walter Talmage Thigpen and Lillian Dale Thigpen and the late Archie Kade and Annie Belle Lane.

He is a 1992 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and Wayne Community College with an ASE certification. He is owner of Travis’ Auto Repair in Pikeville.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a white satin gown with a halter neckline. It featured a split front with an overlay skirt with a chapel-length train. The gown was embellished with crystal beading on the bodice and hem.

Her headpiece was a shoulder-length veil trimmed in crystal beading.

The bride carried a white bouquet of cascading calla lilies and white roses.

Elizabeth Thigpen, daughter of the groom, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Kerry Pelt, sister-in-law of the bride, and Melissa Turner and Kayla Grant, cousins of the bride.

Talmage Thigpen was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Thigie Thigpen and Tony Thigpen, brothers of the groom, and Brandon Pelt, brother of the bride.

Cristy Parker, friend of the couple, was honorary bridesmaid.

Ginger Thigpen and Courtney Thigpen, nieces of the groom, and Regan Kasulis and Kali Kasulis, nieces of the bride, were junior bridesmaids.

Emma Pelt, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Timothy Thigpen, son of the couple, was ringbearer.

Sharon Price directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs were Earl and Janet Grant.

A program of wedding music was provided by Becky Brock, pianist, and Steve Vann and Gail Price, vocalists.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception in the church fellowship hall.

After their wedding trip to Emerald Isle, the couple will reside in Pikeville.

Events held before the wedding included a a bridal shower hosted by co-workers of the bride, a bridesmaids’ luncheon at the home of Melissa Turner hosted by Ms. Turner.

The groom’s father held a rehearsal dinner at Eureka United Methodist fellowship hall.
