Pennington - Chase
Summer Lauren Chase and Daniel John Pennington exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 6 at 2 p.m. at Free Gospel Church, with the Rev. Wes Boyd officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dalton Ray and Lori Chase of Snow Hill and the granddaughter of Dalton “Jimmy” and Jean Chase of Snow Hill and Lorraine Swinson and the late Charles Swinson of LaGrange.
She graduated from Greene Central High School in 2005 and Barton College in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in history. She attends East Carolina University for a master’s degree in history education.
The groom is the son of Rex and Jan Pennington of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Milford and Betty Pennington of Goldsboro and David Buster Bunn and the late Betty Bunn of Pikeville.
He graduate from Charles B. Aycock High School in 2007 and Wayne Community College in 2009 with an associate degree. He attends East Carolina University for a bachelor’s degree in information and computer technology.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white silk faille V-neck ballgown with pleated embellishments. The wedding gown featured a spaghetti strap neckline with hidden pockets and a sweep train.
Her headpiece was a single-layer cathedral-length veil with pearl and Swarovski crystal embellishments
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white and cream peonies, roses, carnations and hydrangeas.
Stacy Bentley was her friend’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Anna Clark, Jessica Galasso and Danielle Strickland, friends of the bride; Tammy Pennington and Michelle Pennington, sisters-in-law of the groom; and Jentry Carlyle, cousin of the bride.
Rex Pennington was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Dennis Jones, friend of the groom; Marcus Pennington and Philip Pennington, brothers of the groom; Colby Chase, brother of the bride; and Taylor Huffman and Trey Huffman, cousins of the groom.
Sharon Gay, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Kristia Cedeno, friend of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Matt Bartlett and Rex Pennington, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Free Gospel Church Family Life Center.
After their wedding trip to the Outer Banks, the couple will reside in Greenville.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower brunch July 9 at Free Gospel Church hosted by the bride’s family; a bridal shower brunch July 16 at Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church hosted by the groom’s family; and a lingerie shower July 30 in Southport hosted by friends of the bride.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner followed by a dance at Walnut Creek Country Club Aug. 5.
