DeConto - Watson
Julie Amanda Watson of Durham and Jesse James DeConto of Durham exchanged vows in a ceremony Oct. 9 at 5 p.m. at Reality Ministries Center in Durham, with the Rev. Tim Conder officiating.
The bride is the daughter of William Ezra and Sandra Wright Watson of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Rev. Orville William and Mary Cox Watson of Princeton, W. Va., and the late Marvin Sidney and Mertice Ivey Wright of Roanoke Rapids.
She graduated from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management. She is employed as an administrator at Reality Ministries in Durham.
The groom is the son of Ronald Edward and Cynthia Marie DeConto of Carboro and the grandson of Ann DeConto and the late Oscar DeConto of Concord, Mass., and Ross and Ethel Mangiapane of Bradenton, Fla.
He graduated from Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio, with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a master’s degree in journalism. He is employed as a staff writer at The News and Observer in Raleigh.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an Ivory gown with a sweetheart neckline with champagne lace at the empire waist. The sheath silhouette had a sweep train.
Her headpiece was a chapel-length veil attached to an embellished flower headband.
Kelli Watson Joyner of Campbell, Calif., was her sister’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Kim Hanauer of Durham, friend of the bride, was the bridesmaid.
Ushers were Kevin Meadows and Loren Pierson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Benjamin Barnhart and Matt Palombo of Minneapolis, Minn., friends of the groom.
Ambrosia DeConto of Durham, daughter of the groom, was the junior bridesmaid.
Caelia DeConto, daughter of the groom, was flower girl.
Samantha Fisher of Durham directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Alison Krehely of Cary, friend of the bride. Stephanie Taylor of Goldsboro and Rebecca Denton of Gastonia, friends of the bride, distributed the wedding programs.
Readers were Damon and Angela McGraw of Pittsburg, Pa., friends of the couple.
A program of wedding music was provided by Ron, Marco, Katie, Steven and Suzanne DeConto, family of the groom, and Nicole Fiehler and Jennifer Cook.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at 604 W. Morgan St. Restaurant in Durham. Bill and Susan Rogerson of Morehead City greeted guests.
After their wedding trip to the northwest, the couple will reside in Durham.
Events held before the wedding included a shower at the home of Jeff and Susan McSwain of Durham hosted by the McSwains and Cameron and Megan Boltes; a bachelorette party in Morehead City hosted by Alison Krehely and Kim Hanauer; and a casual dinner in Goldsboro at the home of Pat and Larry Keim hosted by Linda Greenwood, Pat Keim, Jan Metzler, Candy Whitley and Sue Woodyard.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Reality Ministries Center in Durham.
