Thomas-Harrell
Carrie Allison Harrell of Wilmington and Michael Jonathan Thomas of Wilmington exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 31 at 5 p.m. at Scotts Hill Baptist Church in Wilmington, with the Rev. Robbie Thomas, brother of the groom, and Stuart Harrell, brother of the bride, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. Ken and Ginny Smith Harrell of Laurinburg and the granddaughter of Howard and Irene Harrell of Clinton and Mary Lou Smith and the late Sidney Smith of Laurinburg.
She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree with a concrentration in exercise science. She attends East Carolina University, where she is pursuing a degree for as a phyican assisant.
The groom is the son of Jimmy and Dianna Johnson Thomas of Goldsboro and the grandson of Alma Hill Thomas, the late David “Dave” Thomas, the late Lauriston Ivey and Irene Johnson of Four Oaks.
He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2007 with a bachlor’s degree in information systems. He is employed as director of information systems at Capital Ford of Wilmington.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white strapless full-length gown with a sweetheart neckline. The bodice was embellished with sequins and pearl appliques that gathered on the sides in an asymetical pattern. The gown flowed into a semi-cathedral train that busled in the back.
Her headpiece was a veil of silk Illusion attached to a sequined head band with appliques at the end.
The bride carried a hand-held bouquet of white roses tied with sheer ribbon.
Sara McMahon of Wilminton was her friend’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Emily Bell and Emily McDonald of Wilmington, friends of the bride; Jennifer Justus of Wilmington, roommate of the bride; and Amy Lund and Sonya Wingate of Goldsboro, sisters of the groomo.
Jimmy Thomas was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Chris Aldrich of Goldsboro, Josh Barbour, Shaun McMahon and Willam Bell of Wilmington, friends of the groom, and Paul Harrell of Laurinburg, brother of the bride.
Haley Wingate of Goldsboro, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Michael Paul Harrell Jr. of Raleigh, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer.
Kimberly Johnston directed the wedding. Rachel Hughes distributed the programs.
Thomas Wingate of Goldsboro, nephew of the groom, was candlelighter.
A program of wedding music was provided by Sherry Harrell, pianist; Jackie Barnes, violonist; and Jennifer Justus of Wilmington, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hostd a dinner/dance reception at Porters Neck Country Club in Wilimington.
After their wedding trip to Hawaii, the couple will reside in Wilmington.
Events held before the wedding included a his and her shower June 12 at Adamsville Baptist Church; a girl’s weekend June 25-27 at Ocean Isle Beach hosted by Sara McMahon; a miscellous/recipe shower July 19 in Laurinburg hosted by aunts of the bride; a dinner July 29 in Wimington hosdted by the bridesmaids; a groom’s night out July 29 in Wilmington hotd by the groomsmen; a bridal luncheon July 30 at Elijah’s in Wilmington hosted by Kelly Ficklin, Kate Inman and Kathy Twiddy, aunts of the bride; and a a golf outing hosted by the groom.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Lumina Hall in Wightsville Beach.
An after rehearsal party was held at Lumina Hall in Wrightsville Beach.
