Hazzard-Copeland
Megan Elaine Copeland of Richmond, Va. and Matthew Peter Hazzard of Richmond, Va., exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 9 at 4:30 p.m. at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Raleigh, with Dr. Lawrence Harper officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Charles Bryan and Mary Beth Copeland of Raleigh and the granddaughter of Charles and Dorothy Copeland of Raleigh and Joseph and Peggy Herring of Mount Olive.
She graduated from Clemson University with a bachelor’s degree. She is employed as the complex sales executive at Richmond International Raceway.
The groom is the son of Lawrence and Kristine Hazzard of Hinsdale, Mass., and the grandson of Gretchen Hazzard of Houston, Texas, the late Robert Hazzard and Lawrence and Margaret Burns of Bristol, Conn., and Bill and Dolores Oliver of Waterbury, Conn.
He has a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University anda Juris Doctorate from the University of Richmond School of Law.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory A-line gown.
Her headpiece was her mother’s veil hemmed in ribbon from her mother’s wedding dress.
Anna Milton South-erland was matron of honor, while Megan Garner Ballard was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Megan Caneel Tuttle, Kelly Nicole Bryant, Jennifer Lee Martin, Hannah Margaret Massey, Jennifer Leigh Morris, cousin of the bride, and Sarah Elizabeth Hazzard, sister of the groom.
Taylor Scott Pool was best man.
Groomsmen were Robert Castellucci, Brian Gleason, Philip Southerland, Lawrence Montague, Ryan Leworthy, Courtney Charles, David Whitlock and Bart Copeland, brother of the bride.
Ushers were Nicholas Johnson and Christopher Hyers.
Presiding at the register was Natalie Morris, cousin of the bride. Sarah and Mary Williams, cousins of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Nancy Stout, organist, and Anita Burroughs-Price, harpist.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Capital City Club.
After their wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Richmond.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower July 31 at the Lotrecchiano home hosted by Trish Villarreal and Mollie Lotrecchiano, friends of the bride; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon Oct. 8 at the home of Donna Morris hosted by Ms. Morris, Kathy Williams and Patricia Herring, aunts of the bride.
A rehearsal dinner was held at Solas in Raleigh.
