RALEIGH — Anna Lauren Edwards of Raleigh and Jacob Von Potter of Raleigh exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 26 at 5 p.m. in Jones Chapel at Meredith College, with pastor David Owen officiating.
The bride is the daughter of John Paul Edwards Jr. of Mount Olive and Leigh McRoy Edwards of Raleigh and the granddaughter of Geraldine Bostic Edwards of Raleigh and the late Rev. John Paul Edwards and Mr. and Mrs. William David McRoy Jr. of Goldsboro.
She graduated from Southern Wayne High School and Meredith College in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications with a minor in fashion merchandising. She is employed as a sales and marketing manager at Raleigh Convention Center.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight David Potter of Cedar City, Utah, and the grandson of Mrs. Clyde Potter of Mesa, Ariz., the late Bernice Melvin Potter of Albertson, Elaine Perks Bridges of Provo, Utah, and the late Mr. Paul Von Richardson and Carol Ann Richardson of Upland, Calif.
He graduated from Spring Creek High School and attends North Carolina State University majoring in business administration and French language and literature. He is employed at Sageworks Inc. and Bonefish Grill.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a formal gown of ivory re-embroidered Alencon lace fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, cap sleeves and a keyhole back that fastened with traditional bridal buttons and an ivory satin sash. The gown’s trumpeted silhouette extended into a chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was an ivory illusion fingertip veil bordered with re-embroidered Alencon lace topped with a comb adorned with crystal and pearl motifs.
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white hydrangeas, calla lilies, roses and stephanotis wrapped with ivory ribbon and an Italian Burano lace handkerchief.
Gerri Alise Edwards and Sarah Catherine Edwards were their sister’s maids of honor.
Bridesmaids were Alyssa Potter of Cedar City, sister of the groom; Chelsea Vickery of Greenville, cousin of the bride; and Carla Davis of Raleigh, college friend of the bride.
Dwight David Potter was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were, brothers of the groom, Joshua Potter of San Antonio, Texas, Jordan Potter of Provo and Joseph Potter of Cedar City, brothers of the groom; Jacob Vickery of Greenville, cousin of the bride; college friend of the groom, Benjamin Warrick of Lexington Park, Md., and Taylor Anderson of Raleigh, college friend of the couple.
Nate Fredrickson of Washington, DC, friend of the couple, was the usher.
Junior bridesmaids were, sister of the groom, Caroline Potter of Cedar City, sister of the groom, and Casey Vickery of Greenville, cousin of the bride.
Caroline Williams of Raleigh, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.
Leslie B. Coman, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding. Honorary bridesmaids presiding at the register were Kristen Bankard of Hope Mills, college roommate of the bride, and Kathyrn Stricker of Richmond, Va., college friend of the bride. Honorary bridesmaids Stephanie Wilbanks of Raleigh and Whitney Collins of Elon, college friends of the bride, distributed programs.
Anna Potter Bamgartner, sister of the groom, was Scripture reader.
A program of wedding music was provided by Janet Cherry, organist and pianist; Jennifer Seiger, vocalist; members of a Meredith College a cappella group, Jill Palchinsky, Heather Allen, Shannon Walsh and Mary Hight; Brian Lowry, trumpeter; and Victoria Pedroza, violinist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner reception at the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel.
After their wedding trip to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
Events held before the wedding included an engagement party July 4 in Wrightsville Beach hosted by friends of the couple; a bridal lingerie shower March 28 in Raleigh hosted by college friends of the bride; a bachelorette weekend May 1 in Raleigh hosted by Alise Edwards and Sarah Edwards; a bridal luncheon May 8 in Wilson hosted by Mara Craft and Laurie Okun; a bridal shower in Raleigh June 6 hosted by Jerri McRoy, Rebekah Williams and Ginny Vickery; a bridesmaids’ luncheon June 24 in Raleigh hosted by Geraldine Edwards of Raleigh and Beth Edwards Ross of Boston, Mass.; and a bachelor weekend in Washington, D.C., and Maryland hosted by Benjamin Warrick and David Bradley.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner the home of Leigh Edwards.
