Pennington-Foss
LAGRANGE — Michelle Elizabeth Foss and Philip Andrew Pennington of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Nov. 28 at 5 p.m. at Community Baptist Church, with Wes Boyd officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Jimmie Carr Foss Jr. and Karen Herring Foss of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Jimmie Carr and Linda Sutton Foss and Egbert Marcus and Grace Carlyle Herring of LaGrange.
She is a graduate of Pitt Community College with an associate degree in medical assisting. She is employed as a medical assistant at Wayne Heart and Internal Medicine.
The groom is the son of Rex Pennington and Janet Bunn Pennington of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Milford Earl and Betty McLawhon Pennington of Goldsboro and David Buster Bunn and Betty Howell Bunn of Pikeville.
He is a graduate of Mount Olive College with a bachelor’s degree in recreation and leisure studies . He is employed as a therapist at Waynesboro Family Clinic.
The bride wore a formal gown of white matte organza with a strapless neckline. The fitted bodice was adorned with embroidery and beading. The A-line skirt and semi-cathedral train were decorated with the same embroidery and beadwork.
Her headpiece was a comb of marquise rhinestones, floral and crystal beading that led into a two-tiered veil of silk illusion trimmed with crystals and seed beads.
Lauren Massey of Princeton was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Tammy Pennington of Fayetteville, Summer Chase of Snow Hill, Jessica Hightower of LaGrange, Sarah Lopez of Goldsboro and Erin Gamble of Rosewood.
Rex Pennington was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Marcus Pennington of Fayetteville and Daniel Pennington of Goldsboro, brothers of the groom, Jim Foss of Goldsboro, brother of the bride, J.D. Hightower of LaGrange, Matthew Stancil of Kenly and Clint Godwin of Elizabeth City.
Morgan Foss of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.
Kathy Sanders directed the wedding, assisted by Cindy Hightower. Presiding at the register was Erin Thomas. Katherine Freemon and Anne Stuart Freemon distributed programs.
Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Foss of Goldsboro and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Penuel of LaGrange greeted guests.
A program of wedding music was provided by Nowell Strings and Associates and Shannon Prasad of Washington D.C. and Marcus Pennington of Fayetteville, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner reception at Walnut Creek Country Club.
After their wedding cruise to the western Caribbean, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower brunch Sept. 12 at Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church hosted by aunts and uncles of the groom; a bridal shower Oct. 3 hosted by co-workers of Wayne Heart and Internal Medicine; a bridal shower brunch Oct. 10 at LaGrange Christian Church hosted by friends and family ; and a lingerie shower Oct. 24 hosted by Tammy Pennington and Lauren Massey.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Lane Tree Golf Club.
