GRIFTON — Amber Nicole Hinson of Goldsboro and Justin Everett Oakes of Grifton exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 26 at 5:30 p.m. at Grifton Depot, with pastor Duane “Butch” Haddock officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Shelton Mark Hinson of Goldsboro and Kelly Leigh Hood of Wilson and the granddaughter of Betty C. Hinson and the late Donald C. Hinson of Dudley, Larraine C. Mandeville of Lucama and the late Robert W. Daughety of Grifton.

She is a 2005 graduate of Wilson Technical Community College High School. She is an active member of Fremont Emergency Services Inc. as an EMT volunteer. She is employed as unit secretary\NAII at Wayne Memorial Hospital and Home Life Care in Greenville.

The groom is the son of Raymond Everett Oakes Jr. and Catherine Sue Oakes of Grifton and the grandson of the late Raymond E. Oakes Sr. and Ida T. Oakes of Grifton and the late John W. and Marie A. Newell of Fort Barnwell.

He is a 1996 graduate of Ayden-Grifton High School. He is a volunteer fire fighter with Grifton Volunteer Fire Department and is a captain with the fire department. He is employed as operations manager at NaturChem Inc. in Greenville.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a strapless ivory A-line gown beaded with lace appliqués complimented by a short single-tiered veil embellished with a beaded edge.

Cody Oakes was his father’s best man.

Jackie Daughety Warren directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Makayla Gatain and Faye, friend.

A program of wedding music was provided by Brian Herring.

After their wedding trip to the Outer Banks, the couple will reside in Grifton.
