Vaughn-Kittrell
LAGRANGE — Angela Jean Kittrell of Goldsboro and Desmond Alonzo Vaughn exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 26 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church, with apostle B. L. Kittrell officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Lafayette and Shirley Kittrell of LaGrange and the granddaughter of the late Charlie and Mable Kittrell and the late Sylvanus and Viola Best of La Grange.
She graduated from North Lenoir High School. She is employed at Neuse Correctional Institution.
The groom is the son of Larry and Brenda Vaughn of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Paul and Minnie Super of Jason, James L. Smith of Greenville and Alma Vaughn of LaGrange.
He graduated from Goldsboro High School. He is employed at Neuse Correctional Institution and with the National Guard.
The bride was escorted by her father and by her uncle, Hubert Kittrell, and given in marriage by her parents.
The bride wore an ivory silky taffeta sweetheart gown with spaghetti straps and crystals and beads on an asymmetrical pleated bodice with an A-line pickup skirt adorned with candied buttons on the bodice and candied buttons lining the chapel-length gown.
Her headpiece was a two-layered ivory fingertip veil enhanced with a rattail edge.
The bride carried a bouquet of calla lilies and ivory roses.
Angela Wright was matron of honor, while Tiffany Wooten, daughter of the bride, was the maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Jessica Loftin and Charmell Kittrell, nieces of the bride, and Sandra Jackson, sister of the groom.
Calvin Super was the his nephew’s best man.
Groomsmen were Recardo Roland, Thomas Royal and William Goodman, friends of the groom, and Norwood Kittrell, brother of the bride.
Ushers were Terrance Vaughn, brother of the groom; Marvin Kittrell, brother of the bride; and Ellsworth Best, cousin of the bride.
Honorary bridesmaids were Tonia Cates, Sheila Coverton, Jutan Furguson, Kim Nichelson, Simone Smith, Adrian Wallace, Latrice Worrells, Tasha Williams and Sharice Stanley.
Kortney Perkins was flower girl. Desmond D’Angelo Vaughn, son of the groom, was ringbearer.
Qwamar Vaughn, son of the groom, was Bible carrier.
Sandra Kittrell-Dunn, sister of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Krantzake “Tracy” Kittrell, cousin of the bride. Desheeka Kittrell, niece of the bride, and Natana Martin distributed programs.
Queenie Kittrell Boyce, sister of the bride, and Antonia Kittrell, cousin of the bride, greeted guests.
A program of wedding music was provided by Fruit of the Spirit, Fabrienne Kittrell, AnTonya Powell, Patrick Atkinson and Tony Edmondson, vocalists; Fred Kittrell, keyboards; James Gardner and Victor Shaw, guitarists; and Linwood Cotton, drummer.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception in the church fellowship hall.
After their wedding trip to Orlando, Fla., the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower Aug. 29 at Herman Park Center hosted by Angela Wright.
Queenie K. Boyce, Sandra Kittrell-Dunn and Brenda K. Loftin, sisters of the bride, hosted a rehearsal dinner Sept. 25 in the church fellowship hall.
