MOUNT OLIVE — Sara Megan Strickland of Goldsboro and Tony Matthew McLamb of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 17 at 5 p.m. at Rodgers Chapel at Mount Olive College, with the Rev. Tony McLamb, father of the groom, and evangelist Brian Rogers, friend of the couple, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of David R. Strickland of Clayton and Becky B. Strickland of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Bonnie B. Strickland and the late Ray M. Strickland of Goldsboro and the late Earl and Inez Butts of LaGrange.
She is a 2004 honor graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2009 magna cum laude graduate of Mount Olive College. She is employed as a high school English teacher with Wayne County Public Schools.
The groom is the son of the Rev. Tony and Joyce McLamb of Goldsboro and the grandson of Rose Ina McLamb, the late Jasper McLamb of Goldsboro, Kathaleen Bivens and the late Johnnie Bivens of Goldsboro.
He is a 2005 honor graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 2009 cum laude graduate of Mount Olive College. He is employed as a marketing technician at Geographic Technologies Group.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a formal sleeveless gown of ivory beaded lace with a V-neckline in the front and back. Lace flowed down into a chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a two-tier veil of silk illusion with ivory piping and a crescent-shaped comb with freshwater pearls and rhinestones.
Katie R. Strickland and Anna M. Strickland were their sister’s maids of honor.
Bridesmaids were Alyssa Cummings and Paige Boyette, friends of the bride, and Tracey Amodeo and Melissa McCullen, sisters of the groom.
Michael Moore and Sam Lawhorn were their friend’s best men.
Groomsmen were Earl McCullen Jr., and Mike Amodeo, brothers-in-law of the groom, and Andrew Alphin and Andrew Grubbs, friends of the groom.
Honorary bridesmaids were Tyler Barwick, Crystal Guy, Amy Daughtry-Grubbs and Victoria Sanders, friends of the bride.
McKinley Strickland, sister of the bride, was the flower girl.
Ben and Adrienne Strickland Jr., cousins of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Kere and Katie Wade, friends of the couple. Brittany Young, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Timothy Bradshaw, friend of the couple, pianist, and Brian Parnell and Audrey Owens, friends of the couple, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Lois K. Murphy Regional Center at Mount Olive College.
After their wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower July 19 hosted by friends and family of the groom; a lingerie shower July 30 at the home of Katie Wade hosted by Ms. Wade; a bridal shower Aug. 9 hosted by the family of the bride; a bridal shower Aug. 30 hosted by ladies of Walnut Creek Original Free Will Baptist Church; a luau Sept. 12 at the home of Ben and Diane Strickland hosted by the Stricklands, Ben and Adrienne Strickland Jr. and Donnie and Ann Butts; a luncheon Sept. 12 at the home of Mary Taylor hosted by Ms. Taylor and Lynette Bryan; a bridesmaids’ luncheon Oct. 10 at the home of Gail Edmundson hosted by Ms. Edmundson, Crystal Jones, Emily Toelke and Gloria Walker; and a Christmas shower at Walnut Creek Church hosted by Debbie Hancock and Alyssa Cummings.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Oct. 16 at Lois K. Murphy Regional Center.
