Swain - Wood
SMITHFIELD — Candace Lauren Wood and Dustin Clint Swain exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 18 at 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lee Colbert officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Roger H. and Lynn Wood of Smithfield and the granddaughter of Zelda Mae Braswell Wood and the late Charlie Braxton Wood Sr. of Smithfield and Eula Mae Horton Allen and the late James Leon Allen of Four Oaks.
She graduated from Campbell University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in education. She is employed as a teacher with Johnston County Schools.
The groom is the son of Cullen and Cindy Swain of Goldsboro and the grandson of Vernon M. and Shirley D. Swain of Ahoskie and Louise D. Parker and the late Roy W. Parker of Aulander.
He graduated from Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in business management. He is employed as a financial-service officer at the State Employees’ Credit Union.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
Courtney Blayre Scott of Wilson’s Mills was matron of honor, while Leslie Ann Isenhour of Kenly was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Kellie Faye Stephenson of Smithfield and Kimberly Ann Wood of Wendell.
Cullen Swain was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Bob Cooke of Ona, W. Va., Morgan Keel and Timothey Burnette of Goldsboro and Matthew Routa of Ariz.
Ushers were Jonathan Wood of Smithfield, brother of bride, and Will Parker of Williamston, cousin of groom.
Christina Wood of Smithfield was the honorary bridesmaid.
Gayle Bizzell directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Debbie Jacobs. Debbie Anderson and
Kelly Holland distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by The Baptist Blend; Marshall Tyson, organist; and Roger Wood, father of the bride, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Country Club of Johnston County in Smithfield. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kraft greeted guests.
After their wedding cruise to Key West and Nassau, Bahamas, the couple will reside in Smithfield.
Events held before the wedding included a shower May 26 at South Smithfield Elementary School hosted by friends of the bride; a shower June 6 hosted by friends of the couple; a shower June 13 at the home of Kellie Stephenson hosted by the bridesmaids; a shower June 14 at Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church hosted by Deidre Kraft; a shower June 18 at the State Employees’ Credit Union hosted by friends of the groom; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon July 12 at the home of Mikki Sharek hosted by Debbie Jacobs.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner July 17 in Ryberg Hall at First Baptist Church in Smithfield.
