Howell - Thomas
Wendy Renee Thomas and Travis Ray Howell of Pikeville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 2 at 2 p.m. at Rosewood First Baptist Church, with pastor Larry Bostian officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Carla Thomas and the late Lawrence “Larry” Thomas of Dudley and the granddaughter of the late James E. and Lucy Thomas of Goldsboro and the late Millard and Josephine Walker of Dudley.
She is a 1995 graduate of Southern Wayne High School. She is employed at Southern Optical Co.
The groom is the son of Becky Rosen of Goldsboro and the late Clifton Ray Howell of Pikeville, the stepson of Hank Rosen of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Rudolph and Sallie Howell of Pikeville and the late Rev. Edgar A. and Estelle Benton of Fremont.
He is a 1996 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School. He is employed at North Carolina Manufacturing.
The bride was escorted by her son, Jayden Thomas, and given in marriage by her mother and son.
She wore a formal gown of white satin with a strapless neckline. The fitted bodice was beaded with beadwork of crystals and bugle beads and was accented with a dropped waistline. The full skirt was embellished with sequins and crystals that enhanced the hemline. Boxed pleats fashioned the back of the gown and cascaded into a semi-cathedral train.
Her headpiece was a tiara of rhinestones that extended into a single-tiered veil of silk illusion with bugle beads.
The bride carried a clutch bouquet of starfighter lilies, hot pink roses, white Casablanca lilies, white dendrobium orchids and pink and white astilbe.
Marcie Mills, sister of the groom, was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Denise Parsons and Rebecca Nassef, friends of the bride.
Paul Mills was his brother-in-law’s best man.
Groomsmen were Bert Thomas, brother of the bride, and Jody Nassef, friend of the groom.
Dylan Thomas, nephew of the bride, was the honorary groomsman.
Catherine and Anne Stuart Freemon, cousins of the groom, were flower girls. Tyson and Jaxon Mills, nephews of the groom, were ringbearers.
Becky Hines and Linda Graham directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Gina Cherry.
A program of wedding music was provided by the couple and Scott Little, sound technician.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church’s family life center.
After their wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple will reside in Pikeville.
Events held before the ceremony included a miscellaneous shower was given by both families.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the church.
