Wood - Gardner
Joy Diane Gardner and Dustin Thomas Wood of Ormondsville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. at Stoney Creek Church, with pastor Gary Bailey officiating.
The bride is the daughter of David Cooper and Barbara Quinn Gardner of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Lou Kearney, the late Roger Kearney, the late Ray Gardner, Shirley Gardner and the late Alfred and Bonnie Williams Vanderburg of Goldsboro.
She graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 2004 and East Carolina University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She is employed as a kindergarten teacher at Brogden Primary School.
The groom is the son of Thomas Wood of Hookerton and Mark and Karen Stox Sutton of Greenville and the grandson of Willie and Ruby Wood and James Earl and Janita Stox of Ayden and James and Joan Conway Speight of Greenville.
He graduated from Mt. Calvary Christian School in 2004 and Pitt Community College in 2007 with an associate degree in nuclear medicine. He is employed as a nuclear medicine technologist at Craven Regional Medical Center.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a satin gown with a strapless bodice with pick-ups on the A-line skirt and a chapel-length train. It was accented with a black satin sash.
Her headpiece was silver enhanced by clear jewels.
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of hydrangeas, roses, peonies, alstromeria and Bells of Ireland.
Jamie Gardner Sears was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Jessica Gardner, sister of the bride; Casey Wood, sister of the groom; and Courtney Howell and Jerri-Rae Phillips, friends of the bride.
Thomas Wood was the best man.
Groomsmen were Dennis Wood, Rodney Wood and Daniel Miller, cousins of the groom; Jake Lancaster, friend of the groom; and Michael Masciave, nephew of the bride.
Dana-Lou Daniels, cousin of the bride was the junior bridesmaid.
Avery Bass was the miniature bride. Turner Bass was the miniature groom.
Anna-Gordon Gardner and Aurora Carico were flower girls. Jackson Wood was ringbearer.
Dawn Gardner directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Sarah Jones. Stacey Howell distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Patsy Gardner, pianist, and Shannon Prasad, Emily Jordan and Phillip Jordan, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Stoney Creek Church.
After their wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Ayden.
Events held before the wedding included an engagement party hosted by friends and family; a Christmas shower hosted by Brenda Pearson and Jerri-Rae Phillips; a Pampered Chef shower hosted by Courtney Howell; a wedding shower at Free Chapel Church hosted by friends and family; a wedding shower at Brogden Primary hosted by co-workers of the bride; a wedding shower in Greene County hosted by friends and family; a bachelorette weekend in Charleston, S.C., hosted by Jamie Sears; a bachelor weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C., hosted by friends of the groom; and a bridesmaids’ dinner at the Steak Barn hosted by Dawn Gardner and Bonnie Mozingo.
The groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner at Free Chapel Church.
