Ashley Janine Smith and Adam Warren McPhail of Virginia Beach, Va., exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 25 at 3 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Jimmy Whitfield and Robert Peacock officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Shane Smith and Julie Graham of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of William Smith and Janice Smith-Meyers of Goldsboro and B.J. and Ann Lee of Mount Olive.
She graduated from Eastern Wayne High School and attends Regent University pursuing a degree in international business. She is employed as a financial aid clerk at Regent University.
The groom is the son of Dr. Melvin Lee and Melinda Warren McPhail of Rockwall, Texas, and the grandson of Rosemary Richmond of Rockwall.
He graduated from Baylor University with a degree in economics and attends Regent University for an MBA. He is employed as an IT help desk operator at Regent University.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless A-line gown with a draped tulle empire bodice, an ivory tulle overlay, a split front organza overskirt and a handmade silk organza and tulle sash.
Her headpiece was a runway veil that exceeded the length of the train.
Linda Peacock of Goldsboro was her friend’s matron of honor, while Chelsea Glaesman of Goldsboro and Anna Vetter of Charlotte, friends of the bride, were maids of honor.
Bridesmaids were Summer Graham and Courtney Wegman of Goldsboro, Mallory Hitt of Urbandale, Iowa, Jessica McPhail of Rockwall, Texas, Rebekah Pepper of Caudersport, Pa., and Sarah Beth Stone of Chesapeake, Va.
Brett McPhail of Rockwall, Texas, was his brother’s best man.
Groomsmen were Derrick Ditmore of Conroe, Texas, Ben Harris of Jersey Village, Texas, Dr. Melivin McPhail of Rockwall, Texas, Count Jay Plater-Zyberk of Washington D.C., Chad Smith of Goldsboro, Duggan Stephenson of Knoxville, Tenn., and Jacob Wright of Lancaster, Pa.
Ushers were Trent Crumpler of Goldsboro and David Hales of Rosewood.
Kayleigh Weldon of Chesapeake was the junior bridesmaid. Grant and
Will Braxton of Fuquay-Varina were the junior groomsmen.
Georgia Fulghum and Savannah Smith of Mount Olive were flower girls. Oscar Taylor of Four Oaks was ringbearer.
Honorary bridesmaids were Elizabeth Barbato and Danielle St. Clair of Goldsboro and Dori Oxendine of Pikeville.
Brian Taylor directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Jason and Erin Weldon. The honorary bridesmaids distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Luke Forehand of Goldsboro, Anna Vetter of Charlotte and Jacob Wright of Lancaster, vocalists; Dee Braxton-Pellingrino and Krista Cala, violinists; Jane Yeager, violist; Barbara Salter-Gates, cellist; and Alan Armstrong, pianist.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in
the church’s family life center. Debra Graham was director.
After their wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple will reside in Virginia Beach.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower May 8 in Virginia Beach hosted by Anna and Denise Vetter; a bridal shower May 24 at the home of Bruce and Marla Boyette in Conroe, Texas, hosted by the Boyettes and the groom’s parents; a bridesmaids’ luncheon June 6 hosted by Debra and Summer Graham and Ann Lee; a bridal shower June 7 at First Pentecostal Holiness Church hosted by friends and family; and a lingerie shower at the home of Terry Lynn Barbato of Goldsboro hosted by Summer Graham, Elizabeth Barbato and Linda Peacock.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner July 24 at Goldsboro Country Club.
