De Shong - Gonzalez
CRAMERTON — Erica Gayle Gonzalez of Durham and William Earl De Shong III exchanged vows May 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Cramer Mountain Country Club, with Dr. Sarah Stein and Dr. Glenn Phillips Jr. officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Howard Gonzalez of Gastonia and the granddaughter of Pauline Gonzalez and the late Vincent Gonzalez of Delray Beach, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Staple of New Rochelle, N.Y., the late Mr. and Mrs. Myron Schreiber of Baldwin, N.Y., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith of Decatur, Ill.
She is a 2001 graduate of Ashbrook High School in Gastonia and a 2005 and 2006 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology and a Master’s of Accounting degree. She is employed by Hughes Pittman and Gupton in Raleigh.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Earl De Shong Jr. of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Earl De Shong Sr. of Morehead City and the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman West of Erwin.
He is a 1996 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 1999 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. He attends North Carolina State University’s executive MBA program. He is employed as a sales manager for Atlantic Merchant Services.
The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a formal strapless gown of diamond white with a sweetheart neckline. The fitted bodice was embellished with bugle beads, pearls and sequins with a dropped waistline that cascaded into a semi-cathedral train.
Her headpiece was a one-tiered veil of silk illusion with a scallop of crystal beading.
The bride carried a bouquet of miniature green hydrangeas adorned with white roses, lilies and green cymdibium orchids.
Melissa Anne Gonzalez of Charlotte was her sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Rene’ De Shong of Greenville, sister of the groom, and Nicole Hodge of Chapel Hill and Amelia Barrows and Christine Rosinski of Charlotte, friends of the bride.
Bill De Shong was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Jason Gonzalez, brother of the bride, and Stewart Bryan of Goldsboro and Eric Lutcavage and Chris Elliott of Chapel Hill, friends of the groom.
Ushers were Joshua Hollins of College Station, Texas, and Matt Benson of Charlotte, friends of the groom, and Kyle Wigley of Charlotte, friend of the bride.
Nick Ensani, friend of the groom, was the witness.
Distributing programs were Hannah Garner of Greenville, niece of the groom, Ashley Kincaid of Bloomington, Ind., Catelyn Spencer of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Elizabeth Hill of Washington D.C.
A program of wedding music was provided by Will Robbins, classical guitarist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Cramer Mountain Country Club.
After a wedding trip to Playa Conchal, Guanacastse and Costa Rica, the couple resides in Durham.
Events held before the wedding included an engagement party Feb. 27 at Walnut Creek Country Club hosted by the groom’s parents and friends; a bridal shower Feb. 28 at First Baptist Church hosted by ladies of the church; a miscellaneous shower March 28 at the home of the bride’s parents hosted by the bride’s sister and friends; a bachelorette retreat in Charlotte hosted by the bride’s sister and friends; a bachelor retreat in Savannah, Ga., hosted by friends of the groom; and a Sunday brunch May 9 at the home of the bride’s parents hosted by them.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Rodi’s in Gastonia.
