Horton - Smith
Stephanie Dawne Smith of Pikeville and Joshua Nathanael Horton of Timmonsville, S.C., exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 6 at 2 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dann Patrick officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Eddie Richard and Ruth Gooding Smith of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Joe Leamon and Betty Jo Smith of Guin, Ala., and M. Marion and Elgon McGlawhorn Gooding of New Bern.
She is a 2005 graduate of Faith Christian Academy and a 2009 graduate of Southeastern Free Will Baptist College with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education.
The groom is the son of William Claire Horton Jr. of Edenberg, Pa., and Beverly Jenelle Stroud of LaGrange and the grandson of Lois Cheesebro Horton of Everett, Pa., the late William Claire Horton of Harrisonburg, Pa., and Anna Loise Goff and the late Raymond Eddie Goff of LaGrange.
He is a 2004 homeschool graduate and a 2008 graduate of Southeastern Free Will Baptist College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in bible and missions.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a formal gown of white satin and crystal organza with a neckline accented with a bolero jacket. The fitted bodice was enhanced with an A-line skirt of tucked pleats and crystal organza and cascaded into a chapel-length train.
She carried a bouquet of white and yellow Gerber daisies, white carnations, solidage and baby’s breath.
Rebecca Smith was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Shelley Allen, Brittany Johnson, Jessica Lancaster and Heather Scruggs.
Elijah Horton was best man.
Groomsmen were Mike Becton, Travis Bennet, Bradley Dixon and Joshua Rager.
Ushers were Eric Leamon and Angel Caraballo.
Alana Bailey was flower girl. Andrew Henley was ringbearer.
Sue Floars and Paula Jones directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Laura Marshal and Hannah Stocks. Elizabeth Bailey distributed programs.
Blaise Conlon was bell ringer. Della Stocks was wedding advisor.
A program of wedding music was provided by Christie Davis, pianist; Shelley Allen, Bradley Dixon and Bill Rager, vocalists; and Becky Bennet, violinist.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.
After a wedding trip to the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, the couple resides in Timmonsville.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower March 28 at Bethany Free Will Baptist Church; a bridal shower April 28 at Faith Free Will Baptist Church; a wedding shower June 4 at Tabernacle Free Will Baptist Church; and a bridal luncheon June 5 at the Royal Tea Room.
A rehearsal dinner was held June 5 at Faith Free Will Baptist Church.
