HUBERT — Courtneay Loren Kornegay of Clayton and Jordan Wayne Overbee exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 18 at 3:30 p.m. at 162 Peninsula Manor Road, with the Rev. Dannie Hayes officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Dan and Penny Kornegay of Faison and the granddaughter of Dollie Kornegay and the late Morris Kornegay of Faison and Caswell Moore and the late Hannah Moore of Warsaw.

She is a 2006 magna cum laude graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in middle grades education. She is employed with Johnston County Schools as a sixth-grade math teacher at Riverwood Middle School in Clayton.

The groom is the son of Tim and Patty Overbee of Pine Level and the grandson of James and Hilda Overbee of Pine Level and Fred and Joyce Creech of Kenly.

He is a 2008 graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial and systems engineering. He is employed with Progress Energy in Cary as an asset engineer.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a fitted A-line strapless wedding gown of signature ivory eye lit lace embellished with a champagne satin sash with a chapel-length train.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white daises and yellow asiatic lilies.

Krystal Danielle Kornegay of Mystic, Conn., was her sister’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Katlyn Kornegay Eloshway of Faison and Lyndsey Eloshway Lee of Clatyon, cousins of the bride, and Meghan Lynn Brewer of Coats, Heather Casey Lowe of Clatyon, Haley Van Lauren Peacock of Goldsboro and Jennifer Lynn Sullivan of Mount Olive, friends of the bride.

Timothy Wayne Overbee was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Brandon Keith Casey of Pine Level and Matthew Daniel Crocker of Garner, cousins of the groom, and Joshua Stephen Herring of Calypso, David Allen Myrick of Raleigh, Daniel Douglas Oliver of Pine Level and Samuel Paul Trawick of Monroe, friends of the groom.

Heidi Barlow directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Virginia Pollock Moody, friend of the bride, and Jessica Lauren Byrd, cousin of the groom. Margaret Cameron Pollock, friend of the bride, and Caroline Alaire Comyn, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by pianist Mark Paschal, pianist; Kellie Allen Brown, violinist, and Rose Hayes, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at 162 Peninsula Manor Road.

After a wedding trip to Costa Rica, the couple resides in Clayton.

Events held before the wedding included a handyman shower and dinner Jan. 24 at Hinnant Family Vineyards hosted by George and Angela Faulk, Norman and Jean Massengill, Danny and Renee Oliver, Daniel Oliver and Stephanie Ivey; a wedding shower Jan. 25 at Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church hosted by family and friends of the groom; a miscellaneous wedding shower Feb. 17 at Riverwood Middle School hosted by co-workers of the bride; a wedding shower Feb. 22 at Bear Marsh Missionary Baptist Church hosted by family and friends of the bride; a bachelorette party Feb. 27 in Washington D.C. hosted by Krystal Kornegay, sister of the bride, and the bridesmaids; a guys’ weekend March 13 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., hosted by David Myrick and friends of the groom; a bridal luncheon April 11 at the Country Squire Restaurant in Kenansville hosted by Thelma Allen, Lillian Butle, and Evelyn Corbett, great-aunts of the bride; a bridesmaids’ brunch April 17 at White Oak River Bistro in Swansboro hosted by Dollie Kornegay and Claire Eloshway; and an hors d’oeuvres party April 18 hosted by Richard and Terry Arthur.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner April 17 at White Oak River Bistro.
