Tilghman - Best
Laura Elizabeth Best and Kenneth Dwayne Tilghman of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Feb. 7 at 4 p.m. at Lane Tree Golf and Country Club, with Neal Wingfield officiating.
The bride is the daughter of William Wakefield and Susan Hall Best of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late George Robert Best and Martha Wakefield Best of Lexington and Helen Bostian Hall and the late Charles James Hall of Newark, Del.
She graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in corporate communications and business administration. She is employed as a C and I secretary with Wayne County Public Schools.
The groom is the son of Sandra N. McLeroy of Arrorat and the late Melvin Carroll Tilghman of Statesville and the grandson of the late Kathleen H. Tilghman of Kinston and Doris N. Brown and the late Bernard McLeroy of Birmingham, Ala.
He is employed as a foreman at Allco Electric.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white satin strapless beaded gown with a split front and a beaded train.
Her headpiece was a fingertip veil with a pearl headband.
The bride carried a clutch of white hydrangeas, black callas, red spray roses and white roses with ruscus around the bottom wrapped in black with white pearls.
Amy Piazza was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Julie Best-Barbian and Tammy Young.
Christopher Mooney was best man.
Groomsmen were Ashley Barbain and William Young.
Ushers were Ashley Barbian, Tyler Tilghman and William Young.
Abbygayle Elizabeth Best-Barbian was flower girl. William Bradley Best-Barbian was ringbearer.
Helen Hall, grandmother of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Melissa Chiaramonte. Lynn Bell and Jane Hall distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Thomas Vick, deejay.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Lane Tree Country Club. Suzie Slater greeted guests.
The couple resides in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon Feb. 6 at Logan’s Steakhouse hosted by Lauren Hall, Jane Hall, Judy Slater and Kathy Hester.
A rehearsal dinner was held at the home of the bride’s parents.
