McClure - Lane
Melissa Renee Lane and David Wayne McClure exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, with Neil Wingfield officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Jimmy and Teresa Lane of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Shirley Lane, the late J.C. Lane and Ray and Gail Heath of Goldsboro.
She is a 2000 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2008 graduate of Wayne Community College with an Associate in Science degree in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The groom is the son of Gary and Candi McClure of Goldsboro and the grandson of Phillip and Kathleen Hipps of Canton and Larry Flinn and the late Bonnie Flinn of Indianapolis, Ind.
He is a 1998 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and is pursuing a degree in education. He is employed as a sales representative at Empire Equipment Co.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white satin halter top ballgown with a fitted waist. The pickup skirt was accented with a black satin sash around the waist and draped down the back to the brush train.
Her headpiece was a two-tiered fingertip-length veil of silk illusion embellished with a white satin ribbon edge and a silver bridal comb in a floral motif -of Swarovski crystals.
The bride carried a clutch bouquet of three dozen red roses wrapped in white satin ribbon accented with a jeweled letter M.
Kasey Smith and Crystal Sutton were their friend’s matrons of honor, while Shelby McClure, sister of the groom, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Sarah Coghill and Kari Lee, friends of the couple.
Bill Barclay was his friend’s best man.
Groomsmen were Larry Flinn, grandfather of the groom; Tommy Oliver, friend of the couple; and Adam Lane, brother of the bride.
Ushers were Adam Lane and Tommy Oliver.
Betty Jo Walker, friend of the couple, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Teianna Hall, cousin of the bride.
Special helpers were Jenny Burroughs, Mary Benton, Jan McClure, Peggy Barnes and Heather Barclay.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Salem Hall. Jan McClure, aunt of the groom, cut the wedding cake.
After a wedding trip to Savannah, Ga., the couple resides in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bachelorette party Dec. 6 hosted by Shelby McClure; a bridal shower Nov. 9 at Salem United Methodist Church hosted by the couple’s mothers, grandmothers and special friends of the church; and a bridal shower Oct. 6 at Ham’s hosted by Kasey Smith and Crystal Sutton.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Dec. 12 at Salem United Methodist Church. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
