Williams - Ivey
GREENSBORO — Abbie Caroline Ivey and Alan Richard Williams exchanged vows Jan. 3 at 6 p.m. at Muir’s Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jock Ollis officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Rouse Ivey of Mount Olive and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Hopkins Kornegay and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cresson Ivey Jr. of Mount Olive.
She graduated from Wake Forest University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and attends Elon University School of Law for a Juris Doctor degree. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
The groom is the son of Carol Clark Williams of Greensboro and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Al D. Clark of Columbia, S.C.
He graduated from Davidson College with a bachelor’s degree in bioethics and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a master’s degree in middle grades education. He attends the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for a licensure in school administration. He is employed by Guilford County Schools.
The bride was escorted by her father.
She wore an A-line strapless gown of Alencon lace with a sweep train and a scalloped hem embellished with a sand satin sash and a crystal pearl broach.
Her headpiece was a veil of ivory tulle with rose petal lace.
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of ivory rose, champagne rose, white ranunculus and ivory spray rose.
Meghan Lynn Brewer of Coats was her friend’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Rebekah Hroza Ivey of Mount Olive, sister-in-law of the bride, and Melissa Ann Duncan of High Point, Elizabeth Nichols Smith of Durham and Virginia Crews Van Zandt of Winston-Salem, friends of the bride.
Al D. Clark was his grandson’s best man.
Groomsmen were Alan David Clark and Timothy Lane Clark, uncles of the groom; John Daniel Ivey, brother of the bride; and Dr. David Mathisen Shelburne, friend of the groom.
Honorary bridesmaids were Katherine Reynolds Beavers of Winston-Salem, Katherine Morton Marshall of Carrollton, Texas, and Megan Nicole Silver of Greensboro.
Cindy Green of Greensboro directed the wedding. Sara Elizabeth Ivey of Mount Olive and Stephanie Leigh Ivey of Wilmington, cousins of the bride, distributed programs.
Julie Rose Ivey of Chapel Hill, cousin of the bride, was Scripture reader.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner and dance reception at the O. Henry Hotel.
After a wedding trip, the couple resides in Greensboro.

The groom’s mother hosted a rehearsal dinner and party Jan. 2 at the Proximity Hotel in Greensboro.
