Thornton - Lancaster
GRANTHAM — Brenda Kay Lancaster and Wesley Todd Thornton exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Nov. 15 at 4 p.m. at Falling Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Marty Gurganus officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Terry Wayne and Dorothy Kay Lancaster of Grantham and the granddaughter of the late Earl Lancaster and Grace Lancaster Sauls of Goldsboro and the late Marvin and Christine Thompson Creech of Grantham.
She graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 2004 and Wayne Community College’s Dental Assisting program in 2007. She is employed as a certified dental assistant at Riccobene Associates in Selma.
The groom is the son of Harold Thornton and Kathy Hood Thornton of Grantham and the grandson of the late Harvey Preston and Bessie Jordan Thornton, Louise B. Hood and the late Billy Grantham Hood of Grantham.
He graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 2000 and Wilson Community College with an associate degree in fire protection technology in 2007. He is employed as a firefighter in Wilson.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a the bride wore a white and silver embroidered net modified sweetheart strapless gown. It had embroidered net over silk taffeta accented with Swarovski crystals and rhinestone beading. The hemline was trimmed with a flounced silk taffeta ruffle that flows into a chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a double-layered veil enhanced with pencil edging, Swarovski crystals and rhinestone beading.
The bride carried a clutched bouquet of orange calla lilies, yellow roses, greenery and Swarovski crystals.
Lisa Lancaster Hinson was her sister’s matron of honor, while Linda Lancaster, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Leeann Loreman, Karla Darden and Jennifer Hix, friends of the bride, and Haley Thornton, sister of the groom.
Harold Thornton was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Rob Loreman, Josh Nichols, Daryll Overman and Dee King, friends of the groom, and Nicholas Hinson, brother-in-law of the bride.
Emma Creech, cousin of the bride, was the miniature bridesmaid. Kaeden Hinson, nephew of the bride, was the miniature groomsman.
Briannah Hinson and Gracie Hinson, nieces of the bride, were flower girls. Jared Creech and Riley Creech, cousins of the bride, were ringbearers.
Sue Hill directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Kim Gibbs.
Special helpers were Debbie Mills, Tiffany Mills and Lynda Hinson.
A program of wedding music was provided by Shirley Zabriskie, pianist, and Chris Malpass, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Southern Wayne Country Club.
After a wedding cruise to Mexico and several other islands, the couple reside in Grantham.
Events held before the wedding included a bachelor party Nov. 7 in Raleigh; a Christmas shower Nov. 11 at the home of Lisa Hinson hosted by Ms. Hinson, Linda Lancaster and Dorothy Lancaster; a miscellaneous shower Oct. 26 at Falling Creek Baptist Church hosted by the church and the groom’s family; a bachelorette party Oct. 17 in Goldsboro; and a lingerie shower Oct. 10 at the home of Lynn Harrison hosted by co-workers of the bride.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Falling Creek Baptist Church fellowship hall.
