McArthur - Taylor
DUDLEY — Leslie Anne Taylor and James Dawson McArthur Jr. exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. at Emmaus Baptist Church, with the Rev. Samuel Warner officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Bob Lee and Gwen P. Taylor of Mount Olive and the granddaughter of Bobby Earl Taylor and the late Edna G. Taylor of Winterville, Betty Purser and the late Donald B. Purser of Bayboro and Evon D. Purser of Maury.
She graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 2001 and Wayne Community College in 2008 with Associate in Arts and Associate in Nursing degrees. She is employed as a registered nurse at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
The groom is the son of James Dawson and Alice M. McArthur of Greenville and the grandson of Joseph and Doris McArthur of Fayetteville and Murial Mathern and the late Col. Louis Mathern Jr. of Sierra Vista, Arizona.
He graduated from Rose High School in 2002 and Pitt Community College with an Associate in Science degree. He is employed as a paramedic with Pitt County EMS.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white matte satin mock two-piece gown with a scalloped portrait neckline accented with crystal beading. The bodice was enhanced with beaded Schiffli lace highlighted with metallic threading. The A-line skirt was embellished with matching Schiffli lace and flowed into a decorated Castillion train. The gown also had satin covered buttons with a matching handbag.
Her headpiece was a white two-layered veil with a hand-sewn silver beaded flower motif along the cascading edge.
The bride carried a hand-held bouquet of purple iris, golden aster and daisies tied with ribbon streamers.
Emily Parks was her sister’s matron of honor, while Nikki Long was maid of honor.
Lauren Massey was the bridesmaid.
James D. McArthur was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Jeffrey McArthur and Christopher Hudson.
Ryan Parks was the usher.
C. J. Morales was the junior groomsman.
Kallie Brock was the junior bridesmaid.
Lacy McArthur was flower girl. Murray McArthur was ringbearer.
Nora Sasser directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Grace Warner.
A program of wedding music was provided by Gary Millard, pianist; Karen Morgan, vocalist; Patricia Faulk Batten, organist; and Joseph McArthur III, bagpiper.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Nikki Deyonke cut the wedding cake. Katelyn Brock poured punch. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Griffin greeted guests. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Kohnen said good-byes.
After a wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., the couple reside in Greenville.
Events held before the wedding included a brunch shower Sept. 13 at the home of Cheryl Adams hosted by Ms. Adams, Cindy Watson, LaVeta Weatherington, Judy Frye and Ann Crew; a bridesmaids’ brunch Aug. 30 at Murphey’s hosted by the bride’s mother; a lingerie shower Aug. 23 at the home of Emily Parks, sister of the bride; a shower Aug. 3 hosted by Emmaus Baptist Church; a Pampered Chef shower July 24 at Rhodes Friends Church hosted by Nikki Long; a shower July 20 at the home of Betty Purser, grandmother of the bride; and a supper shower July 10 hosted by Eric and Michelle Moneys, Sam, Mary and Grace Warner and Joe and Doris McArthur, family of the groom.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Emmaus Baptist Church fellowship hall.
