Pfaadt - Byrd
ATLANTA, Ga. — Jennifer Lea Byrd of Atlanta and Donald Joseph Pfaadt Jr. of Atlanta exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, with Deacon Tom Shuler officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Donnie Ray and Becky Jean Byrd of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Percy Ward and Myrtha Beasley Byrd of Dunn and Jo Ann Wellons and the late William Freeman Wellons of Goldsboro.
She graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1998 and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communication. She is employed as a national advertising account executive at Fox Sports Net.
The groom is the son of Donald Joseph Pfaadt Sr. and Patricia Ann Pfaadt of Louisville, Ky., and the grandson of the late Joseph August and Florence Matilda Pfaadt and the late Edward Thomas and Mary Ellen Carpenter of Louisville.
He graduated from Saint Xavier High School in Kentucky in 1997, the University of Kentucky with honors in 2001 with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree and a secondary major in history and the University of Georgia in 2006 with a Masters in Business Administration degree. He is employed as an audit manager at Beazer Homes.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory Italian silk satin gown. The scooped strapless neckline had a pleated fold and the fitted design of the dress flowed into a trumpet skirt accented by two side gathers just above the knee. The low back was finished with covered buttons. It had a chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a chapel-length veil with French Alencon lace.
The bride carried a hand-tied round bouquet of pale green cymbidium orchids with a deep red throat and white calla lilies with an ivory satin wrap with pearl accents.
Amber Chambley Byrd of Chapel Hill was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Teresa Ellen Davis of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Donna Lynn Johnson of Louisville, sisters of the groom, Meredith Webb Haslam of Atlanta, Holly Susanne Hill of Raleigh, Stacey Maria Marrs of Charlotte, Heather Michelle Morris and Anna Brody Scaffe of Charleston, S.C., and Jennifer Lowery Sharp of Belmont.
Donald Joseph Pfaadt Sr. was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Wyatt Coleman Anderson and Bradley Philip Hambrick of Atlanta, David Ryan Byrd of Raleigh, brother of the bride, Kevin Thomas Barrett, Ryan Steven Engelbrecht, Jacob Matthew Stack, Chad Joseph Stocker and Corey Stellar Forbes of Louisville and Sayre Gabriel Blades of New York, N.Y.
Madison Lynn Johnson was flower girl. Matthew August Davis was ringbearer.
Presiding at the register was Emily Paul Southerland of Raleigh. Kimberly Jane Hambrick of Atlanta distributed programs.
Scripture readers were Wyman Thomas Byrd of Chapel Hill and Bung Joo Choi of Alhambra, Calif., friends of the couple.
A program of wedding music was provided by Julia Lynn Hollingsworth of Raleigh, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Chastain Horse Park.
After a wedding trip to Belize, the couple reside in Atlanta.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon Sept. 19 at Horseradish Grill in Atlanta hosted by Becky Byrd, Phyllis Hill and Jo Ann Wellons; an engagement barbecue at the home of Jo Ann Wellons Aug. 16 hosted by Mrs. Wellons and David and Lydia Chambley; a honeymoon shower Aug. 9 at Aqua Restaurant in Hilton Head, S.C., hosted by Anna Scaffe; a bridal shower and luncheon June 8 at the home of Donna Johnson hosted by Mrs. Johnson and Teresa Davis, sisters of the groom; an engagement party June 7 at the home of Susan and Matt Stack in Louisville hosted by the Stacks, Kevin Barrett and Tricia McCartney; a couples shower at Franklin Hotel in Chapel Hill April 12, hosted by Amber Byrd, Holly Hill, Stacey Marrs, Heather Morris, Katie Foreman, Jennifer Sharp and Meredith Haslam; a bachelor weekend in Destin, Fla., hosted by the groomsmen; and a bachelorette weekend in Hilton Head hosted by Amber Byrd.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Anthony’s Fine Dining in Atlanta.
