Aghajanian - Toler
CHAPEL HILL — Brandy Star Toler of Durham and Amir Aghajanian of Durham exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carolina Inn, with the Rev. Barbara Lodge officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Randy Alan and Angela Lively Toler of Pikeville and the granddaughter of Gladys Blackman and the late Thurman Toler of Goldsboro, Frances Lane and the late Jack Edmundson of Pikeville and John Lively of Athens, Tenn.
She is a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She attends graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for a pediatric nurse practitioner degree. She is employed as a newborn critical care nurse at UNC Children’s Hospital.
The groom is the son of Akbar Aghajanian and Zahra Tashakkori of Fayetteville and the grandson of Mounes Aghajanian and the late Hassan Aghajanian of Esfahan, Iran, and the late Fazel and Masoumeh Tashakkori of Jahrom, Iran.
He is a graduate of North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. He is in the MD/Phd program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her family.
She wore an ivory satin A-line gown beaded throughout the bodice and strapless neckline. The back featured a beaded lace insert, covered buttons and a cathedral-length train.
Her headpiece was a two-tiered waist-length veil trimmed with an ivory soutache ribbon.
The bride carried a hand-tied bridal bouquet of stargazer lilies.
Bridal attendants were Sara Aghajanian, sister of the groom; Kate Nichols and Meredith Ross, friends of the couple; and Parisa Tashakkori, cousin of the groom.
Groomsmen were Alan Toler, brother of the bride; George Bishai, friend of the couple; and Sina Tashakkori, cousin of the groom.
Ariana Tashakkori, cousin of the groom, was flower girl.
Leslie Nelson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Jessica Pulling. Sarah Wren distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Arioso Strings featuring a trio of violins and a cello.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Old Well Room of the Carolina Inn.
After a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple reside in Durham.
Events held before the wedding included a bachelor party May 23 hosted by co-workers of the groom; a bridal shower May 2 hosted by Jenny Whitt and Jessica Pulling, co-workers of the bride; and a couple’s shower and cookout April 5 hosted by Rachel Talton, Tabitha Talton, Debbie Lane and Peggy Evans.
A rehearsal dinner was held at Hope Valley Farms Club House in Durham.
