Franklin - Davis
GOLDSBORO — Claire Robbins Davis of Clayton and David Phillip Franklin exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 24 at 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church, with Glenn Phillips officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Reginald Allen and Katherine Jones Davis of Pikeville and the granddaughter of James Nick Davis of Fayetteville, the late Georgianna Parker Horner of Fayetteville, Fredrick Howard and Frances Robbins Frimet of Fayetteville and the late James T. Jones.
She is a graduate of C.B. Aycock High School. She is also a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration concentrating in Management and Human Resources. She is employed as a store manager at Bath and Body Works in Garner.
The groom is the son of Joseph Weldon Franklin Jr. and Betty Grantham Franklin of Goldsboro and the grandson of Helen Butler Franklin and the late Joseph Weldon Franklin Sr. of Goldsboro and the late Joseph Milton Grantham Jr. and Nancy Flowers Grantham of Grantham.
He is a graduate of Rosewood High School and of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration concentrating in Management. He is employed as an assistant manager at The Sherwin Williams Company in Smithfield.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a gown of ivory lace designed with a halter neckline that was enhanced with beaded crystals and sequins. The mermaid silhouette was beaded and cascaded into a semi cathedral train.
She chose for her head piece a single tier veil of silk illusion accented with pearls and crystals, and edged with bugle beads.
She carried a bouquet of stargazer lilies, pink roses, dahlias and stephanotis.
Anna Davis was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Emily Southerland, Elizabeth Percise, Samantha Morris, Tiffany Franklin and Sarah Lewis.
Joseph Franklin Jr. served as best man.
Groomsmen were Joseph Franklin III, Gregory Davis, Matthew Sewell, Tray Bridgers and Justin Lassiter.
Elsie Hooks directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Hannah Grantham.
Wedding music was provided by Harry Overby, vocalist, and Melissa Coutts, organist.
A dinner and dance reception were held at Lane Tree Golf Club.
After a wedding trip to the Outer Banks the couple reside in Clayton.
A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held at the Elks Lodge.
Events held before the wedding included a shower hosted by the ladies at First Baptist Church, a shower given by The Dorcas Circle and Women of Witness at Pine Forest United Methodist Church, a bachelor weekend at Wrightsville Beach hosted by the attendants, a tool party hosted by Greg Davis and Joseph Franklin, brothers of the bride and groom, a garden tea party hosted by Anna Davis, sister of the bride, at the home of Jeannette Shannon in Fayetteville, a bachelorette weekend hosted by the bridesmaids at Wrightsville Beach and a bridesmaids luncheon at Lane Tree Golf Club hosted by Frances Frimet, the grandmother of the bride.
