Byrd - Smith
SEVEN SPRINGS — Stephanie Darlene Smith of Raleigh and David Ron Byrd exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony March 15 at 5 p.m. at Walker Memorial United Methodist, with Dr. Ron Byrd, father of the groom, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Steven and Faye Smith of Seven Springs and the granddaughter of Bob and Ann Smith of Seven Springs and the late Homer Davis of Kinston and Darlene Davis of Kinston.
She graduated from Spring Creek High School in 2003 and Campbell University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. She is employed as a commercial coordinator at LandAmerica Lawyers Title.
The groom is the son of Ron and Linda Byrd of Coats and the grandson of Victor and Mary Byrd of Benson and Clara Denning and the late James Denning of Coats.
He graduated from Triton High School in 2002 and Campbell University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. He is employed as a financial services officer at the State Employees Credit Union.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory and ruby strapless gown with a beaded ruby trim and train.
Her headpiece was a brushed silver rhinestone tiara.
The bride carried a bouquet of long-stemmed midnight red roses.
Hannah Davidson was her friend’s matron of honor,
Bridesmaids were Johanna Barker, Lindsay Ballance and Violette Ajiboye, friends of the bride.
Jeff Davidson was his friend’s best man.
Groomsmen were Bret Denning and Brian Denning, cousins of the groom; and James Fountain, friend of the groom.
Meredith Wilson, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Luke Beasley, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.
Sherrie Kornegay directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Ashley Lewis, friend of the groom. Julie and Tyler Williams, cousins of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Barbara Price, pianist, and Donna Beasley, sister of the groom, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Southern Wayne Country Club. Peggy Laws was the director. Al Laws was the announcer.
After a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple reside in Raleigh.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal luncheon March 1 at the home of Sherry Mobley hosted by Ms. Mobley, Shannon Kornegay, Jessica Hobbs and Donna Ward; a miscellaneous shower Feb. 24 hosted by McCullers Community Baptist Church; a sweetheart shower Feb. 10 hosted by Memorial United Methodist Church; a shower hosted by co-workers of the bride at LandAmerica Lawyers Title; a dinner at Bahama Breeze hosted by Hannah Davidson; and a girl’s night.
A rehearsal dinner was held at Walker Memorial Church.
