BOGUE BANKS — Brooke Sherman Rhodes of Raleigh and Alferd Benjamin Goodrich II of Raleigh exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 3 at 5 p.m. at Sanders Chapel’s Trinity Center, with the Rev. William M. Presnell officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Thomas Jackson and Joelyn Sherman Rhodes of Wilson and the granddaughter of Jean Jackson Rhodes of New Bern, the late James Slade Rhodes and Ruth Talley Sherman and the late Joel Herbert Sherman of Wilson.
She is a graduate of Greenfield School in Wilson and Elon University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. She is employed as a regional sales representative at Our Heritage Preserved Reclaimed Wood Products.
The groom is the son of Sharon Wells Goodrich and the late Chad Hall Goodrich of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Alferd Benjamin and Margaret Hall Goodrich of Goldsboro and the late James Franklin and Mamie Ruth Wells of Mount Olive.
He graduated from Eastern Wayne High School and East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in construction management. He is employed as a land development manager at W&W Partners Inc. of Raleigh.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless couture wedding gown of white dupioni silk with ruching on the bodice accented by a flower at the side and a modified bustled skirt with a chapel-length train.
She wore flowers in her hair.
The bride carried a single long-stemmed white rose.
Erin Rhodes Gould was her sisters’ matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Gretchen Barber, Beth Ellsworth, Lindsey Kinnaird and Louise Warenda of Raleigh, Jodie Daku of Arlington, Va., Paige Fountain of Baltimore, Md., Katie Howell of Nashville, Tenn., and Kelly Sibol of York, Pa.
Chad Hall Goodrich Jr. was his brother’s best man.
Groomsmen were Justin Barnhill of Tarboro, Lee Brashear of New York, N.Y., Emery Ivey, Darryl Kennedy and John Seegars of Goldsboro, Todd Nunn and Jeff Nunn of Raleigh and Tad Rhodes of Wilson, brother of the bride.
Elizabeth Rhodes Gould, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Thomas Jackson Rhodes III, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer.
Kathryn Wishon Davis of Wilson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Tracy Joelyn Turner of New York, cousin of the bride. Tobi Michelle Turner, cousin of the bride of Tampa, Fla., distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Dr. William B Boles Jr. of Wilson, trumpeter.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Beaufort Historic Site.
After a wedding trip to Caneel Bay, St. John’s, U.S. Virgin Islands ,the couple reside in Raleigh.
Events held before the wedding included a bride’s brunch May 3 at the home of Tom and Mary Piggott hosted by the bride’s extended family; a bridesmaids’ luncheon the weekend of the wedding at the Sea Dreams Poolhouse hosted by Sallie Cozart, Linda Miller and Susan Powell of Wilson and Judy Gould of Wake Forest; a bridal shower in March hosted by friends; and an engagement party in January.
The groom’s mother hosted a rehearsal dinner at the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores and friends of the couple hosted a dance.
