Corbett-Barber
Sandy Renee Barber of Goldsboro and Dwight Alan Corbett Jr. of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony March 15 at
6 p.m. at Lane Tree Country Club, with Ricky Head, stepfather of the groom, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Ricky Barber Sr. and Jan Barber of Pikeville, the granddaughter of Peggy G. Norwood of Goldsboro, the late Bobby E. Norwood Sr., Earl Barber of Crossville, Tenn., and Marjorie B. Smith of Greenville and the stepgranddaughter of Anita Barber of Crossville.
She is a 2004 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and attends Mount Olive College for a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice. She is employed as an assistant branch manager at Woodforrest National Bank.
The groom is the son of Dwight Alan Corbett Sr. and Joann Head of Wilson, the stepson of Ricky Head, the grandson of the late Joseph and Betty Jean Edwards and the late Chester and Fannie Corbett and the stepgrandson of Royce and Jean Head.
He is a 2004 graduate of Rosewood High School. He attended Wayne Community College. He is serving in the Air Force stationed in San Antonio, Texas.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white satin strapless A-Line gown with crystal beading on the bodice, a split front overskirt with embroidery and a chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a rhinestone and pearl tiara attached to an elbow-length veil of illusion trimmed with satin ribbon.
The bride carried an assortment of pink spring flowers with green ribbons.
Kelly Barber was her sister’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Melinda McClenny, Paige Boyette, Jenny Christianson and Maria Ruiz, friends of the bride, and Tonya Barber, sister-in-law of the bride.
Aaron Lynch was his friend’s best man.
Ushers were Sean Denton and Terrence Artis, friends of the groom; Don Lamm, uncle of the groom; and Donnie Lamm, cousin of the groom; Barry Ginn, brother-in-law of the groom; and Ricky Barber Jr., brother of the bride.
Megan Barber, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.
Hope McCullen, friend of the couple, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Kristin Pereira, niece of the bride. Sherry Ginn, sister of the groom, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jill Peterson, friend of the couple, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, a reception and dance was held at Lane Tree Country Club. Helpers were Dee Kleinert, Mary Smith and Beth Smith.
After a wedding trip to the mountains, the couple reside in Pikeville.
Events held before the wedding included a bachelor party March 8 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a bachelorette party March 8 in Raleigh; and a couples’ bridal shower Feb. 23 at the Gurley House in Princeton hosted by the bridesmaids.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Wilbur’s Barbecue.
