Young - Edwards
BENTONVILLE — Summer Michelle Edwards and John Bradley Young exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Nov. 17 at 4 p.m. at St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Richard Parson officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Luby “Doodle” Wiley Edwards Jr. and Janice Howell Edwards of Grantham and the granddaughter of Esther Edwards and the late Bill Edwards of Goldsboro and Howard and Mildred Howell of Grantham.
She is a 1999 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 2002 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degree in business administration. She is employed as the 4-H program assistant with the Wayne County Cooperative Extension/4-H Program.
The groom is the son of James Gardner and Diane Blakely Young of Dunn and the grandson of the late John and Lovie Young of Dunn and the late T.R. and Virginia Blakely of Jamestown.
He is a 1997 graduate of Triton High School. He is employed as a parts consultant at Bleeker Chevrolet.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless gown of white satin with a sweetheart neckline. The bodice and chapel-length train were adorned with embellishments.
Her headpiece was a two-tiered fingertip veil
The bride carried a clutch bouquet of autumn chrysanthemums and button mums wrapped in white organza ribbon.
Misty E. Johnson was her sister’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Ashley Howell and Wendy Young, cousins of the bride.
James G. Young was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Jamie Edwards, brother of the bride; Wesley Young, brother of the groom; and William Youngblood, cousin of the groom.
Chloe Edwards, niece of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.
Haley Edwards and Meredith Johnson, nieces of the bride, were flower girls.
Ann Dennning directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Kenneth and Vickey Sanderson.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jean Parson, pianist, and Nicki Sanderson, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception in the church fellowship hall.
After a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple reside in Dunn.
Events held before the wedding included a pantry shower Nov. 8 at Pizza Inn hosted by co-workers of the bride; a lingerie shower Oct. 19; a bridal shower Sept. 23 at St. John Church hosted by the bride’s family and church women’s ministry; and a bridal shower Sept. 8 at Grove Presbyterian Church hosted by the groom’s family and friends.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at the church.
