Johnson - Kirby
PIKEVILLE — Dana Nanette Kirby and Moses John Johnson Jr. exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 15 at Pleasant Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Franklin G. “Barry” Stallings officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Jerry William and Phyllis Parnell Kirby of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Jack and Ramona Kirby of Pikeville and Maxine Parnell and the late Clifton Parnell of Goldsboro.
She is a 2002 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2004 graduate Wayne Community College with an associate degree in medical office administration. She is employed at Goldsboro Medical Clinic.
The groom is the son of Doris Ray and the late Moses John Johnson of Zebulon and the grandson of the late Jessie and Annie Johnson of Wendell and the late William and Mammie Ray of Zebulon.
He is self-employed at M.J. Johnson Home Improvement.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a formal gown of white chiffon over satin with pink embroidery with pearls, sequins and seed beads. The strapless bodice was enhanced with an asymmetrical gathering at the waistline. The A-line skirt flowed into a chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a rhinestone tiara attached to a two-tiered veil of silk illusion embroidered with silver thread, sequins and pearls in a floral design along the scalloped edging.
The bride carried a bouquet of pink hydrangeas accented with white ranunculus and stephanotis.
Mary Ellen Corbett was her cousin’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Joy Allen, Lindsey Nicholson and Lauren Warren, cousins of the bride, and Miranda Wooten, friend of the bride.
Garry Phillips was his friend’s best man.
Groomsmen were Jason Corbett, cousin of the bride; Daniel Kirby, brother of the bride; and John Nicholson and Thomas Parnel, uncles of the bride.
Destiney Anderson was flower girl. Jordan Allen, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer.
Kim Nicholson, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Mindy Glover. Taylor Allen and Trent Allen distributed programs.
Special helpers were Caren Wells, Christine Satterfield, Becky Glover, Ellen Cobb and Glenda Phillips.
A program of wedding music was provided by Renee Futrelle, pianist; Tyron Corbett and April Wilson, vocalist; and Paige Barwick, violinist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Lane Tree Golf Club. George and Renee Futrelle greeted guests.
After a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple reside in Zebulon.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ dinner Sept. 13 at the home of Maxine Parnell hosted by Glenda Phillips, Ellen Cobb and Ms. Parnell; a Christmas shower Sept. 6 at Texas Steakhouse hosted by Lisa Jenette and Caren Wells; a recipe shower Aug. 26 at the home of Christine Satterfield hosted by Ms. Satterfield, Georgia Crumpler and Maude Pittman; a surprise sleepover Aug. 24 at the home of Maxine Parnell hosted by Mary Ellen Corbett; a Pure Romance shower Aug. 18 at the home of Rebecca Bartick hosted by Ms. Bartick; a lingerie shower Aug. 11 at the home of Ramona Kirby hosted by Kim Nicholson and Ms. Kirby; a pool party July 21 at the home of Glenda and Garry Phillips hosted by the Phillipses; a miscellaneous shower July 15 at Pleasant Grove Church hosted by friends and family; and a girls’ night out May 5 hosted by Mary Ellen Corbett.
The groom held a rehearsal dinner in the church fellowship hall.
