Edwards - Whitfield
LAGRANGE — Brandy Nichole Whitfield and Thomas Leo Edwards Jr. of Grifton exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 11 at 4 p.m. at Garris Chapel Church, with Jerry Mitchell officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Ricky Hugh and Wendy Beamon Whitfield of LaGrange and the granddaughter of Irene Mozingo and the late Herman “Monk” Whitfield and George “Tommy” and Helen Harper Beamon of LaGrange.
She is employed as a speech/language pathologist at Venture Rehabilitation Group.
The groom is the son of Thomas Leo Edwards Sr. and Marsha Owens Edwards of Hookerton and the grandson of Audrey Edwards and the late Carl Edwards Sr. of Grifton and Joyce Dula, Henry Dula and the late Milton Owens of Kinston.
He is employed as an auto estamatics inspector at State Farm Insurance Company.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless A-line gown. The neckline was etched with crystal beading and a beading-decorated midriff. Crystals were tucked into the skirt pickup and on the modified chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a silver petite tiara accented with rhinestones and crystal beads attached to a white two-tiered elbow-length veil with scattered rhinestones and a finished pencil edge.
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of pink miniature calla lilies, hydrangeas and roses enhanced with pink sweet peas and tied with a satin ribbon.
Dana Sutton was her sister’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Michelle Garon and Jessica Letchworth of LaGrange, cousins of the bride, and Kara Tolley of Columbia, S.C., Charlotte Crain of Greenville and Amerique Sileno and Jacquelyn Warner of Raleigh, friends of the bride.
Thomas Edwards was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Ron Sutton of LaGrange, brother-in-law of the bride, and Josh Deaver, Michael Morris and Chris Rouse of Kinston and Jonas Howard and Taylor Howard of Grifton, friends of the groom.
Courtney Lee of Deep Run and Alexandra Beamon of Kinston, cousins of the bride, and Amanda Myers of Charlotte, friend of the bride, were honorary bridesmaids.
Ashley Deaver of Kinston, and Lauren Moore of Pink Hill, friends of the couple, were junior bridesmaids.
Emily Sutton, friend of the bride, was flower girl. Evan Sutton, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer.
Susan Spengler directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs were John and Patti Beamon.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jason Cox, pianist and vocalist, and Jaime Cox, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, a reception and dance were held at Walnut Creek Country Club. Mike and Vicky Letchworth and J.K. and Vanessa West greeted guests.
After a wedding trip to Marco Island, Fla., the couple reside in Grifton.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon Aug. 10 at the home of Michelle Garon hosted by Ms. Garon and Vicky Letchworth; a bachelor weekend July 21 through 23 hosted by the groomsmen; a bachelorette weekend and lingerie shower July 13 through 15 hosted by Tina Stewart, Amanda Aldridge and Jacquelyn Warner; a recipe luncheon June 30 at the home of Kaye Thompson; a bridal shower June 17 hosted by the groom’s family; a bridal shower June 10 hosted by the bride’s family; and an engagement/honey-do party May 11.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Vermillions of Kinston.
