Sloan-Floars
Morgan Blaire Floars and Stephen Ray Sloan exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 23 at 6 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dann Patrick and the Rev Christian Powell officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Bobby Darryl and Tammy Hamm Floars of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Bobby G. and Norma Ray Floars and A.J. and Pat Hamm of Goldsboro.
She is a 2006 graduate of Faith Christian Academy and attends Johnston Community College for a degree in radiography. She is employed as a claims technician at Sentry Insurance.
The groom is the son of Walter R. Sloan Jr. and Peggy Cordell Sloan of Goldsboro and the grandson of Carleen Sloan and the late Walter R Sloan Sr. of Nashville, Tenn., and Richard and Marie Cordell of Goldsboro.
He is a 2005 graduate of Faith Christian Academy and attends Campbell University for a degree in math and science. He is employed as a claims technician at Sentry Insurance.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a a formal gown of candlelight satin with a bodice of pearls and beading. The A-line skirt cascaded into a grand cathedral-length train.
Her headpiece was a single-layer elbow-length veil with pearl embellishments attached to a comb of pearls and rhinestones. She wore a strand of pearls that belonged to her late maternal great-grandmother Lilly Wiley.
Holly Dawson of Goldsboro was her cousin’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Jennifer Haas, Lauren Stocks, Stephanie Cash and Kelly Dawson of Goldsboro, Sarelle Pendergraft of Wilson, Mckenzi Hurt of Jonesborough, Tenn., Brittany Jones and Christina Jones of Princeton, friends of the bride, and April Baines and Ashley Baines of Cummings, Ga., cousins of the groom.
Walter Sloan Jr. was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Bobby and Bradley Floars, brothers of the bride, Jason Patel, Stephen Patel, Nathaniel Patel, Daniel Patel, Jonathan McNeese, Tommy Moran and T.J. Sasser of Goldsboro and Drew Cowin of Rochelle, Ill., friends of groom.
Madeline Clark, friend of the bride, was the junior bride. Blake Floars, brother of bride, was the junior groom.
Alia Pittman, friend of the bride, was flower girl. Garrett Pendergraft, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer.
Matthew Hamm was the bell ringer.
Sue Floars and Angela Floars directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Amy Baines and Anna Cox. Meredith Clark and Lauren Smith distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jan Haas, pianist; Amanda Montepeque and Dave Coffey, vocalists; Domenique Tanzini, harpist; and Melissa Marcum, keyboardist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Lane Tree Golf Club. Scott Hamm was coordinator. Matthew Hamm, Lauren Smith and Blake Floars distributed birdseed. Don and Jessica Clark, Mike and Karen Woodard and Aaron and Jessica Pendergraft greeted guests. Michele Overton and Loi Hamm, aunts of the bride, served the wedding cake. Tammy Cannon, aunt of the bride, and Ginger Baines, aunt of the groom, served the groom’s cake.
After a wedding trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal brunch June 22 at the Royal Tea Room hosted by Tracy Pendergraft, Karen Woodard and Michele Overton; a tool party June 19 hosted by Bobby Floars; a shower May 1 hosted by ladies of Faith Church; a shower April 29 at the home of Carolyn Hardison hosted by Ms. Hardison, Andrea Brisson and Shannon Smith; a lingerie shower April 27 at the home of A.J. and Pat Hamm hosted by Holly Dawson and Kelly Dawson; and an engagement party Oct. 6 at the home of the bride hosted by the bride’s parents.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner June 22 at Faith Free Will Baptist church fellowship hall.
